Phases and phase transitions of the glycoglycerolipids
Chemistry and Physics of Lipids, 1994LIPIDAT is a computerized database providing access to the wealth of information scattered throughout the literature concerning synthetic and biologically derived polar lipid polymorphic and mesomorphic phase behavior. The database is considered comprehensive for glycerophospholipids, glycoglycerolipids, sphingolipids and natural membrane extracts ...

Yb-170 Mossbauer spectroscopy, temperature dependent X-ray, magnetisation and specific heat data are presented in the hexagonal intermetallic YbAl3C3, in order to shed light on the isostructural transition occurring near 80K and to investigate the electronic state of the Yb ion above and below the transition.

Thermal Conductivity during Phase Transitions
Advances in Materials, 2018Thermal conductivity is a very basic property that determines how fast a material conducts heat, which plays an important and sometimes a dominant role in many fields.

Phase transitions are introduced using the van der Waals gas as an example. The equations of state are derived from the Helmholtz free energy of the ideal gas. The behavior of this model is analyzed, and an instability leads to a liquid-gas phase transition. The Maxwell construction for the pressure at which a phase transition occurs is derived.

Induced phase transitions in ferroelectrics with diffuse phase transition
Physica Status Solidi (a), 1981Dielectric, thermal, electrocaloric, elastic, optical, and electromechanical properties of three ferroelectrics with diffuse phase transition (PLZT 8/65/35 ceramics, lead magnesium niobate and strontium barium niobate single crystals) are investigated in dependence on temperature and electric field strength.

Transition-when the cervix dilates from about 7 cm. to 10 cm.-is generally considered the most difficult phase of labor and it is at this time that the couple who have learned a psychoprophylactic technique, such as the Lamaze method, face their most stringent test. Control can be precarious.

Nomenclature of phase transitions
Quarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, 1958Discusses the curious situation in which the terminology of chemistry and physics has only five words to describe the six possible transitions between three states of matter.

Phase transitions denote transformations of the substance in one phase to another phase. The description of phase transitions is realized essentially within two schemes: a sharp interface across which the constitutive properties suffer a sudden change or a diffuse space region where the pertinent fields vary continuously.
