Bubble Growth as a Detonation [PDF]
Bubble growth as a detonation is studied in the context of cosmological phase transitions. It is proved that the so called Chapman-Jouguet hypothesis, which restricts the types of detonations that can occur in spherically symmetric chemical burning, does

Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Quantum Phase Transitions [PDF]
Phase transitions which occur at zero temperature when some non-thermal parameter like pressure, chemical composition or magnetic field is changed are called quantum phase transitions. They are caused by quantum fluctuations which are a consequence of Heisenberg's uncertainty principle.

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Topological phase transitions and Weyl semimetal phases in chiral photonic metamaterials
Recently, topologically nontrivial phases in chiral metamaterials have been proposed. However, a comprehensive description of topological phase diagrams and transitions in chiral metamaterials has not been presented.

Role of unstable periodic orbits in phase transitions of coupled map lattices
The thermodynamic formalism for dynamical systems with many degrees of freedom is extended to deal with time averages and fluctuations of some macroscopic quantity along typical orbits, and applied to coupled map lattices exhibiting phase transitions ...

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Entanglement echo and dynamical entanglement transitions
We formulate dynamical phase transitions in subsystems embedded in larger quantum systems. Introducing the entanglement echo as an overlap of the initial and instantaneous entanglement ground states, we show its analytic structure after a quench provides
