Integrated optical phased arrays for optical trapping
Adaptive Optics and Wavefront Control for Biological Systems VII, 2021In this paper we propose and simulate a design for an optical phased array that can produces spot sizes small enough to be used in optical trapping processes in a micro-scale. Furthermore we attempt to combat the large grating lobes that are characteristic of optical phased arrays via an optimized non-uniform spacing profile of emitter elements.

Fast beam steering with an optical phased array
Optics Letters, 2020Optical phased arrays (OPAs) are devices that use the coherence of light to control the interference pattern in the far field, which enables them to steer a laser beam with no moving parts. As such, OPAs have potential applications in laser communications, target acquisition and tracking, metrology, and directed energy.

On-Chip Circular Optical Phased Arrays
Optica Advanced Photonics Congress 2022, 2022We report on a two-dimensional optical phased arrays with circular configurations to effectively suppress the grating sidelobes down to 10 dB, while enlarging the steering range to 0.24π and narrowing the angular beamwidths to 0.5°.

Nanodipoles for an optical phased array
Journal of Russian Laser Research, 2007Two realizations of an optical electric dipole emitter are considered in the application to a dipole optical phased array project. Realization 1 is a dielectric disc in which a leaky wave of the E0m0 type is excited. Realization 2 is a piece of nanowire of a well-reflecting metal (Ag) coated with a dielectric layer (ZnO).

An optical phased array for lasers
Proceedings of International Symposium on Phased Array Systems and Technology, 2002High-performance, optical phased arrays for electronic control of laser beams have recently been demonstrated. The optical aperture is lithographically fabricated to form a unity-fill-factor array of liquid-crystal-based optical phase shifters. The liquid-crystal phase shifters can be fabricated smaller than a wavelength of light, with spacings equally

This paper presents the case of an optical phased array in analogy with its counterpart in the microwave frequency region. It consists of a planar aperture array formed by the discrete illuminated core ends of a number of monomode optical fibres placed adjacent to each other in several rows.

Foveal scanning based on an optical-phases array
Applied Optics, 2020We utilize the space-variant structure of the human fovea as a basis for a novel, to the best of our knowledge, foveal approach based on optical-phases array (OPA). This approach can be used to solve issues in 3D imaging and achieve a large field of view and high resolution with real-time application.

Fiber-optic feed for phased array antennas
Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 1986A phased array antenna usually consists of a set of nearly identical elemental antennas positioned in an aperture to provide Nyquist spatial sampling for some angular field of view normal to that aperture. The phase of each element is controlled so that the far-field pattern from the array, the 2-D Fourier transform of the aperture field distribution ...
