Hemoglobins XLV. The Amino Acid Sequence of Pheasant(Phasianus colchicus colchicus)Hemoglobins

Hoppe-Seyler´s Zeitschrift für physiologische Chemie, 1982
Pheasant hemoglobin is heterogenous and contains two components: a major one called HbA (70% of total amount) and a minor one called HbD (25% of total amount). HbA contains alpha A-chain, while HbD contains alpha D-chain. The amino acid sequences of both hemoglobins are given.

Directional Selection on Morphology in the Pheasant, Phasianus colchicus

Oikos, 1991
Directional selection was relatively frequent, and in some instances intense, during a three-year study of a pheasant population. The pheasant is a polygynous species. In addition to weight, tarsus length and wing length, which were studied in both sexes, three beak characters were measured in females, and tail and spur length in males. Both univariate

Selenium Toxicity in Breeding Ring-Necked Pheasants (Phasianus colchicus)

Avian Diseases, 2004
A flock of breeding ring-necked pheasants received feed with a high selenium content. Within 4 days of eating the toxic feed, the rate of egg production began to decrease, and bird aggression increased. Approximately 12% of the hens died within a week.

Acclimatization to temperature in pheasants (Phasianus colchicus) and partridge (Perdix perdix)

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part A: Physiology, 1975
Abstract 1. 1. Pheasants and partridge acclimatize to cold temperatures by behavioural means, Existing insulation potential is maximized by fluffing of the feathers and minimization of overt activity. They show no significant changes in their seasonal, temperature-metabolism curves with respect to either slopes or critical temperatures. 2. 2.

An Outbreak of Fowl Cholera in Ring-Necked Pheasants (Phasianus colchicus)

Avian Diseases, 2003
A total of 120 ring-necked pheasants from a 3000-bird flock in Zeeland, MI, died over a 3-day period. Clinical signs included sudden death, diarrhea, and limping. At necropsy, hepatomegaly with multifocal cream-colored foci randomly distributed throughout the parenchyma was observed in diseased birds.

[Reovirus infection of pheasants (Phasianus colchicus)].

Tierarztliche Praxis. Ausgabe G, Grosstiere/Nutztiere, 1998
In this case report we discribe clinic, pathology and diagnostic of an avian reovirus-infection in pheasants. The disease was observed 1993 in a flock of game-pheasants in the western part of Turkey. Of a live-stock of 100 animals, 27 were affected most of them being three to five months old.
