Traceability of calibration for Phasor Measurement Unit
2012 IEEE Power and Energy Society General Meeting, 2012IEEE Standard C37.118.1 defines requirements for the measurement and determination of a Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU). The PMUs must be tested to ensure that all PMUs on the power grid behave the same. In order to meet the requirement of PMU within specified uncertainty, the PMU calibration systems or calibrators must be traceable to known reference ...

Phasor measurement unit using GPRS wireless connectivity
2011 IEEE PES CONFERENCE ON INNOVATIVE SMART GRID TECHNOLOGIES LATIN AMERICA (ISGT LA), 2011This paper describes the development of a phasor measurement unit using data wireless transmission via GPRS. The detailed process in the design and construction of the prototype and the difficulties faced at different stages are presented. The results are finally evaluated using the Total Vector Error (TVE) calculated for each of the testing designs.

Calibration of phasor measurement unit at NIST
2012 Conference on Precision electromagnetic Measurements, 2012Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs) are being deployed on electric power grids to monitor their static and dynamic behavior. The information they gather is important to detect problems on these systems and to prevent blackouts. The PMUs require time synchronization of the data taken across the grids.

Fault factor analysis with phasor measurement units
2014 IEEE PES General Meeting | Conference & Exposition, 2014In the researches of complex electrical engineering, efficient fault detection and localization schemes are essential to quickly detect and locate faults so that appropriate and timely corrective mitigating and maintenance actions can be taken. In this paper, under the current measurement precision of PMU, we will put forward a new type of fault ...

Optimal Selection of Phasor Measurement Units
2020Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) is an important device for the power system operation as it provides the synchronized data required for the monitoring, protection, and control of the power system. So, to deploy the PMUs for the power system, their optimal locations are needed to be identified. This paper presents the optimal selection of PMU set from the

Calibration of Phasor Measurement Unit at NIST
IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2013This paper describes the basic operating principles of Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs) and their time requirements to estimate absolute phase angles. A National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) PMU calibration system that tests PMU performance necessary to meet the IEEE synchrophasor standard requirements is discussed.

Voltage stability analysis using phasor measurement unit
2017 Recent Developments in Control, Automation & Power Engineering (RDCAPE), 2017This paper provides a brief knowledge of the voltage stability and its measure is used in the state estimation (SE). Changes in voltage value occurs due to the changes in the load. Its evaluation has been done by varying load and for different load cases and varied voltage value is noted. To perform SE, Weighted Least Square (WLS) method is used. Since

Multistage optimal placement of phasor measurement unit
2015 International Conference on Energy, Power and Environment: Towards Sustainable Growth (ICEPE), 2015This paper is concerned about the optimal allocation of Phasor Measurement Units and at the same time ensuring the complete network observability with the available Phasor Measurement Units. Due to large interconnection of the power system it is not possible to allocate Phasor Measurement Units at strategic location in one go.
