Isolation of phenanthrene-degrading bacteria and characterization of phenanthrene metabolites

World Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2006
Three aerobic bacterial consortia GY2, GS3 and GM2 were enriched from polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon-contaminated soils with water-silicone oil biphasic systems. An aerobic bacterial strain utilizing phenanthrene as the sole carbon and energy source was isolated from bacterial consortium GY2 and identified as Sphingomonas sp. strain GY2B.

Interactions among buffelgrass, phenanthrene and phenanthrene-degrading bacteria in gnotobiotic microcosms

Journal of Environmental Science and Health, Part A, 2008
An experiment was undertaken in gnotobiotic microcosms to determine the role of buffelgrass (Cenchrus ciliaris) and a phenanthrene-degrading bacterium (strain PM600) in the degradation of phenanthrene. The Gram-negative bacterium was identified as a Sphingomonas sp. by 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis and as S.

Enhanced desorption of humin-bound phenanthrene by attached phenanthrene-degrading bacteria

Bioresource Technology, 2012
The objective of the study was to test the hypothesis that the attachment of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs)-degrading bacteria can promote desorption of PAHs from humin, thereby increasing their bioavailability. Biodegradation of humin-bound phenanthrene (PHE) - a model compound for PAHs - was investigated using two PHE-degrading bacteria ...

Solid-liquid equilibria in the systems thianthrene + phenanthrene, salicyclic acid + phenanthrene, and 3-hydroxybenzoic acid + phenanthrene

Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data, 1990
Solid-liquid equilibria (SLE) phase diagrams have been determined for the binary systems of thianthrene, salicylic acid, and 3-hydroxybenzoic acid with phenanthrene. Compounds of this type are commonly used as model compounds for demonstrating the capabilities of supercritical fluid extraction (SFE), yet little is known about their thermodynamic ...
