Study of linear energy transfer effect on rib fracture in breast cancer patients receiving pencil‐beam‐scanning proton therapy

open access: yesMedical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background In breast cancer patients treated with pencil‐beam scanning proton therapy (PBS), the increased linear energy transfer (LET) near the end of the proton range can affect nearby ribs. This may associate with a higher risk of rib fractures.

Enhancing Efficiency in Multiscale Simulation: Comparing a Lagrange Multiplier Based Approach and a Weak Staggered Coupling With Optional SPML Interface for Wave Propagation

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The representation of material failure due to wave propagation is essential for the numerical analysis of engineering structures under high dynamic loading. Explicit time integration schemes are well established for this kind of application.
