Phenomenological modeling of durotaxis

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2017
Cells exhibit qualitatively different behaviors on substrates with different rigidities. The fact that cells are more polarized on the stiffer substrate motivates us to construct a two-dimensional cell with the distribution of focal adhesions dependent on substrate rigidities.

The equivalence of different types of electric pulses for electrochemotherapy with cisplatin − an in vitro study

open access: yesRadiology and Oncology
Electrochemotherapy (ECT) is a treatment involving the administration of chemotherapeutics drugs followed by the application of 8 square monopolar pulses of 100 μs duration at a repetition frequency of 1 Hz or 5000 Hz.

Phenomenological Aspects of Dirichlet Higgs Model from Extra-Dimension

open access: yes, 2010
We study a simple five-dimensional extension of the Standard Model, compactified on a flat line segment in which there propagate Higgs and gauge bosons of the Standard Model.

DESTRUCTION CRITERION IN MODEL OF NON-LINEAR ELASTIC PLASTIC MEDIUM

open access: yesНаука и техника, 2014
The paper considers a destruction criterion in a specific phenomenological model of elastic plastic medium which significantly differs from the known criteria.

Improved Phenomenological Renormalization Schemes

open access: yes, 2001
An analysis is made of various methods of phenomenological renormalization based on finite-size scaling equations for inverse correlation lengths, the singular part of the free energy density, and their derivatives.

Deformed aerogels in the superfluid 3He

open access: yes, 2015
Deformed aerogels induce a global anisotropy in the superfluid 3He and orient the orbital part of its order parameter. Here a phenomenological theory of the orientational effect of elastic deformations of aerogels on the superfluid phases of 3He in the ...

Do we understand near-forward elastic scattering up to TeV energies?

open access: yes, 2014
In 1970, on purely theoretical grounds, all total hadronic total cross sections were predicted to increase without limit for higher and higher energies. This was contrary to the conventional belief at that time.

Vector model phenomenology

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 1991
Abstract We review the vector model, a low-energy effective theory of QCD based upon a novel realization of chiral symmetry incorporating vector mesons. After discussing some of the problems with the lowest-order phenomenological results of this model, we compute the leading log corrections to the theory's tree level predictions.
