The phenotype and the components of phenotypic variance of crop traits

Field Crops Research, 2013
Abstract Field Crops Research focuses on both experimental and modelling research at the field, farm and landscape level on temperate and tropical crops and cropping systems, with a focus on crop ecology and physiology, agronomy, plant genetics and breeding.

Phenotypic plasticity in the reproductive traits of a parasitoid

Journal of Insect Physiology, 2011
Organisms show phenotypic plasticity--the capacity for a given genotype to express different phenotypes--in response to changes in the environment. Among the several factors that can cause phenotypic plasticity, nutritional constraints during development can affect the size of organisms and, consequently, affect most life-history traits, including ...

Traits for Phenotyping

2015
The term plant phenotyping has been regenerated with the contribution of sensors, system technologies, and algorithms. This new plant describing concept allows multi-trait assessment with automatic measurements. Uniform structure, nondestructive measurements, precise results, and direct storage are the advantages of digital phenotyping.

Phenotypic Variation in Sickle Cell Trait

Scandinavian Journal of Haematology, 1974
The proportion of haemoglobins S and A2 in 244 Nigerians with sickle cell trait was determined. Hb S was found to vary between 20 and 47.5 %, whilst Hb A2 ranged from 1.0 to 4.3 %. The variation of Hb S within families was found to be significantly less than between families.

Phenotyping for Root Traits

2015
Root system architecture determines crop capacity to acquire water and nutrients in the dynamic and variable soil environment. Increasing attention is paid to searching for optimal root traits to improve resource uptake efficiency and adaptation to heterogeneous soil conditions.

Quantitative trait loci underlying a speciation phenotype

Insect Molecular Biology, 2023
Abstract Sexual signalling traits and their associated genetic components play a crucial role in the speciation process, as divergence in these traits can contribute to sexual isolation. Despite their importance, our understanding of the genetic basis of variable sexual signalling traits linked to speciation ...

Advances in Phenotyping of Functional Traits

2015
Phenotyping is analyzing a plant’s phenotype and providing a critical means to understand morphological, biochemical, and physiological principles in the control of basic plant functions as well as to select superior genotypes in plant breeding. Besides well-known classical plant phenotyping procedures based on visual observations, measurements, or ...

Phenotyping Nutritional and Antinutritional Traits

2015
Evolution of nutrient-rich food systems to calorie-focused production agriculture has created serious agricultural and human health issues: marginalization of traditional agricultural crops, greater dependence of agricultural inputs, and creation of both energy and micronutrient malnutrition.
