Rapid detection of PAH gene mutations in Chinese people
Background Phenylketonuria (PKU) is an autosomal recessive genetic disease, caused by the phenylalanine hydroxylase (PAH) deficiency in the metabolic pathway, which prevents phenylalanine from being converted into tyrosine, leading to a large amount of ...

ABSTRACT To ensure sustainable agricultural production under escalating environmental constraints such as drought and salinity, innovative strategies are urgently needed. Here, we reveal in foxtail millet (Setaria italica) that transcription factors TAF10 and ERF109 form a functional complex which co‐activates the expression of key flavonoid ...

ABSTRACT Transient expression of exogenous protein in Nicotiana benthamiana leaves via agroinfiltration offers a rapid and efficient platform for functional gene discovery and heterologous production of valuable eukaryotic proteins and metabolites. Though light quality is an important factor for plant photomorphogenesis, its impact on the efficiency of

Conformational selection turns on phenylalanine hydroxylase
Phenylalanine hydroxylase catalyzes a critical step in the phenylalanine catabolic pathway, and impairment of the human enzyme is linked to phenylketonuria.

Anthocyanins and betalains in evolution: Why mutual exclusion remains the best‐supported model
Anthocyanins and betalains are plant pigments produced through different biosynthetic pathways and are generally considered mutually exclusive. We examine claims of their co‐occurrence, arguing that methodological flaws and data misinterpretation have led to unsupported reports, and offer recommendations for more rigorous future research.

SUMMARY CYP73 and CYP98 are two cytochrome P450 monooxygenase families present in bryophytes and tracheophytes, and they play key roles in the formation of phenolic compounds containing a caffeic acid moiety and more complex phenolic compounds. CYP73 encodes the second enzyme in the core phenylpropanoid pathway and is the first enzyme family in this ...

SUMMARY Tartary buckwheat (Fagopyrum tataricum) is renowned for its adaptability to complex growing conditions and stress tolerance. However, soil‐borne necrotrophic pathogens such as Rhizoctonia solani frequently cause devastating diseases that severely compromise its yield and quality. In this study, through a genome‐wide association study (GWAS), we

Cardioprotective hormone relaxin‐2 showed relevant effects on rat skeletal muscle by altering proteins linked to muscle function, regeneration, differentiation, mitochondrial function, glucose metabolism, and structural integrity and organization. Specifically, relaxin‐2 reduced the expression of 95 proteins, increased 32, and elicited unique proteins ...
