Assessment of Pseudaletia unipuncta (Haworth) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) populations in Azorean pastures by light and pheromone traps. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The number of larvae and seasonal flight activity of the true armyworm, Pseudaletia unipuncta (Haworth) (Lepidoptera, Noctuidae), were monitored during three consecutive years (1992-1994) in pastures in S. Miguel island. P.

Novel, male-produced aggregation pheromone of the cerambycid beetle Rosalia alpina, a priority species of European conservation concern. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Several recent studies have demonstrated the great potential for exploiting semiochemicals in ecology and conservation studies. The cerambycid beetle Rosalia alpina represents one of the flagship species of saproxylic insect biodiversity in Europe.

A Synthetic Pheromone Lure Useful for Trapping Stray Honeybees

open access: yesJournal of Apicultural Research, 1984
SummaryLures containing synthetic components of the honeybee Nasonov pheromone attract worker honeybees to traps, especially when they also contain the queen pheromone component (E)-9-oxo-2-decenoic acid.

Chromosome‐scale genome assembly of the South American fruit fly, Anastrepha fraterculus sp.1

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Anastrepha fraterculus sp. 1 is a major fruit fly pest in Argentina, currently controlled through chemical treatments and traps. This study aims to enhance the genomic understanding of this species to support the development of sterile insect technique as well as the use of innovative technologies.

Survey on the control methods of Bactrocera oleae (Gmelin) in organic olive groves producing oil and table olives in Sicily [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In Sicily there are several organic farms producing olive oil and the number of farms has grown in the last years. The control methods of Bactrocera oleae (Gmelin) used by Sicilian organic farms were surveyed in 2004 and 2005.

Edges as ecological filters: Asymmetrical orientation‐specific arthropod activity across forest boundaries

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Moderate retention forestry creates structurally sharp forest edges that act as ecological filters, shaping orientation‐specific activity of ground‐dwelling arthropods. Using drift‐fence pitfall traps, we show that activity aligned with ecotones is more frequent than activity across forest–clearcut boundaries, particularly among detritivores.

Attraction of Phoracantha mastersi (Coloeptera: Cerambycidae) to copulation‐associated olfactory stimuli

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, EarlyView.
Damage caused by Phoracantha mastersi larvae are the primary cause of forest decline in Australia's subalpine forests. Behaviour of male adult beetles was tested in response to a suite of commercial semiochemicals and conspecifics engaged in active copulation within a Y‐maze.

Preliminary laboratory and field trials of a heated pheromone trap for the sandfly lutzomyia logipalpis (Diptera: Psychodidae)

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 1990
A heated pheromone trap for the sandfly Lutzomyia longipalpis was tested in the laboratory using filter paper or plastic vial dispensers. Male pheromone extracted from 8 male tergal glands and absorbed on to filter paper dispensers attracted 82/120 (68.3%
