Concentration‐Dependent Lamellar Organization and Structure–Property Relationships in Melt‐Processed EVA/Cloisite 20A Nanocomposites

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Cloisite 20A content tunes the structural and mechanical response of melt‐processed ethylene‐vinyl acetate (EVA) nanocomposites. Expanded basal spacings at 5.0 and 7.5 wt% clay are consistent with polymer‐chain intercalation within ordered clay domains.

Revisiting paravertebral muscles in European rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) and European brown hares (Lepus europaeus) (Leporidae; Lagomorpha)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Domesticated European rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) have long been chosen as laboratory model organisms. Despite this, there has been no definitive study of the vertebral musculature of wild rabbits. Relevant descriptions of well‐studied veterinary model mammals (such as dogs) are generally applicable, but not appropriate for a species ...

The Role of Thessaly in Argead Foreign Policy and a Case of Invented Tradition

open access: yesKaranos
In antiquity, the Thessalians and the Macedonians, neighbors on the periphery of the Greek world, were perceived as primitive uncultured boors, whose political instability and proclivity to luxury left them open to collaboration with the Persians, the ...

Tooth row allometry in domestic rabbits and nondomestic lagomorphs: Evidence for a decoupling of body and tooth row size changes in evolutionary time

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Domestic rabbits of different body sizes differ disproportionately in the length of their tooth row or the length of their diastema. Abstract In various domestic mammals, smaller breeds tend to have proportionally larger teeth, whereas this is not a universal trend across mammals.

Macedonia’s Interests in Thrace and Conflicts with Athens

open access: yesKaranos
From the late sixth century BC on, close connections between the political actors of Thrace, Hellespontine Phrygia, Persia, Athens, and, during their times of Greek supremacy, Sparta and Thebes are attested.

Origin, evolution and biogeographic dynamics of the European rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) in Southwestern Europe

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The Pleistocene is a key period for understanding the evolutionary history and palaeobiogeography of the European rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus). The species was first documented in southeastern Iberia at the beginning of the Middle Pleistocene and appears to have rapidly spread throughout Southwestern Europe, where it was found in numerous ...

A second species of non‐crocodyliform crocodylomorph from the Late Triassic fissure deposits of southwestern UK: Implications for locomotory ecological diversity in Saltoposuchidae

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The Late Triassic–Early Jurassic fissures of the Bristol Channel area (southwest England and south Wales) are renowned for their diverse vertebrate faunas. These assemblages have yielded an array of predominantly small‐bodied forms that are crucial to our understanding of the early evolution of several major tetrapod clades.
