ABSTRACT Soilborne fungal pathogens threaten food security, but limited knowledge of their population biology, including genetic variability and population structure, hinders the development of effective strategies to prevent crop losses. Rhizoctonia solani AG‐1 is a significant soilborne pathogen worldwide, divided into subgroups based on host range ...

Morphological studies of the Ayu Trough, Philippine Sea – Caroline Plate Boundary
The Ayu Trough lies on the southern boundary between the Philippine Sea Plate and Caroline Plate. Although this trough may be the best place to study the evolution and kinematics of the Philippine Sea Plate, the origin and evolution of this trough are poorly understood.

Summary Stomata have the crucial role of balancing the uptake of CO2 for photosynthesis and water loss via transpiration by adjusting their aperture. In C3 plants, coordination between photosynthesis and stomatal conductance can be disrupted by mutations in Calvin–Benson–Bassham (CBB) cycle expression, but it is not clear whether the disruption of the ...

Analysis and geological interpretation of gravity data from GEOS-3 altimeter [PDF]
A number of detailed gravimetric geoids of portions of the world's oceans from marine gravity measurements were constructed. The geoids were constructed by computing 1 x 1 deg or 10 x 10 deg averages of free-air anomaly data and subtracting these values ...

Splitting of the Philippine Sea Plate and a magma chamber beneath Mt. Fuji
Mt. Fuji is located in a tectonically unique area, but various aspects of the structure have not been fully explained. Here we show the results from a magnetotelluric survey across Mt. Fuji along a 70 km observation line. The profile shows that a conductive body is located between two resistive bodies at depths greater than 15 km.

Characteristics of Seismic Energy Rate Functions of Shallow Tremors
Abstract We investigated the energy rate functions of shallow tremors southeast of the Kii Peninsula in the Nankai subduction zone. Unimodal functions (triangle or bell‐shaped) explain the characteristics of small (<104 J) shallow tremors. As the seismic radiated energy increases, the energy rate functions become more complex and are better ...

Origin of the Bohai Sea Basin, North China Craton, and implications for bidirectional back-arc extension in the East Asian continental margin [PDF]
The Bohai Sea Basin in eastern China is located in a back-arc extensional regime due to northwestward subduction of the Philippine Sea Plate and westward subduction of the Pacific Plate underneath the Eurasian Plate.
