Natal philopatry in young Cape Vultures Gyps coprotheres
Ostrich, 2016In 2010, 14 Cape Vulture Gyps coprotheres chicks were ringed as nestlings on the cliffs at the Skeerpoort Cape Vulture colony in the Magaliesberg mountains, South Africa. Observations made during the 2014 and 2015 breeding colony censuses confirm two individuals returned to the Magaliesberg to breed.

The Accession of Archelaus Philopatris
1995Abstract Archelaus, on whom Pompeius Magnus bestowed the principality of Comana in Pontus, met his end on an ambitious venture, fighting for a bride and a throne in Egypt (s 5 B.C.). His son inherited Comana, but did not hold it for long. Caesar installed an adherent of his own, Lycomedes the Bithynian, of royal ancestry.

Nel concetto di patris occorre vedere non un riferimento all'antica patria dei sovrani ellenistici, ovvero la Macedonia, bensì il desiderio di un maggior rapporto con le nazioni in cui questi re regnavano.
