Nomogenesis : a Peircean approach. A thesis on the philosophy of cosmology.
2020This thesis deals with the age-old problem of the origin of the laws of the universe. I investigate Charles Sanders Peirce’s theory of origins, and place his ‘principle of habit’ into a modern scientific context. Peirce’s theory is tested by means of computer simulations of model universes, and the results of these simulations are interpreted.
