PHLAEOTHRIPIDAE With 450 genera and almost 4000 species this is the largest Thysanoptera family. Members of this family exhibit a wide range of different biologies, as evidenced by the four species discussed here from Tamarix. The first species is flower-living, whereas the second is leaf-living.

The Thysanoptera Haplothripini (Insecta: Phlaeothripidae) of Iran
Journal of Natural History, 2008In Iran, 4 genera and 27 species are recorded of the Thysanoptera tribe Haplothripini (Phlaeothripidae, Phlaeothripinae): Dolicholepta Priesner with 1 species, Haplothrips Amyot and Serville with 23 species, Neoheegeria Schmutz with 2 species, and Plicothrips Bhatti with 1 species.
