Safety and Efficiency of Cephalic Vein Puncture by Modified Seldinger Technique Compared to Subclavian Vein Puncture for Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices. [PDF]

open access: yesClin Cardiol
Cephalic vein puncture has been described as novel access for CIED implantation, promising high success rates and simplified handling. Implantation of at least one lead via CVP was successful in 90% of the patients. Total implantation and fluoroscopy times did not differ between cephalic and subclavian implantations.

Adrenal insufficiency as a rare manifestation of secondary antiphospholipid syndrome: A pediatric case report and review of articles

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 11, Issue 6, June 2023., 2023
Key Clinical Message Adrenal insufficiency is a rare, important manifestation of secondary antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) in pediatrics. In the presence of hematologic disorders such as thrombosis, we should consider APS. Abstract Adrenal insufficiency can rarely occur in the context of vascular disorders and thrombosis in patients with ...

Antithrombotic Treatment in Patients With Hemophilia: an EHA‐ISTH‐EAHAD‐ESO Clinical Practice Guidance

open access: yesHemaSphere, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2023., 2023
Cardiovascular disease is an emerging medical issue in patients with hemophilia (PWH) and its prevalence is increasing up to 15% in PWH in the United States. Atrial fibrillation, acute and chronic coronary syndromes, venous thromboembolism, and cerebral thrombosis are frequent thrombotic or prothrombotic situations, which require a careful approach to ...

Near‐Infrared Spectroscopy measurements are reliable for studying patellar bone hemodynamics and affected by venous occlusion, but not by skin compression

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Orthopaedics, Volume 10, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
Abstract Purpose According to the homeostasis model, patellofemoral pain (PFP) results from disturbed homeostasis due to vascular insufficiency in the anterior knee. Near‐Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS) measures relative changes in concentrations (in µmol/cm2) of (de‐)oxygenated hemoglobine (HHb and O2Hb).

Prognosis assessment model based on low serum calcium in patients with acute pulmonary thromboembolism

open access: yesRespirology, Volume 27, Issue 8, Page 645-652, August 2022., 2022
Abstract Background and objective The pulmonary embolism severity index (PESI) and simplified PESI (sPESI) are recommended to recognize patients with acute pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE) with low prognosis risk, which is of great significance for treatment.

The challenges in diagnosis and management of osteitis pubis: An algorithm based on current evidence

open access: yesBJUI Compass, Volume 3, Issue 4, Page 267-276, July 2022., 2022
Abstract Objective The objective of this study is to summarise the contemporary evidence regarding the prevalence, diagnosis, and management of osteitis pubis (OP) specially from urological point of view, while proposing an algorithm for the best management based on the current evidence.

Catheter‐directed thrombolysis for massive deep vein thrombosis in an adolescent with severe antithrombin deficiency

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 10, Issue 4, April 2022., 2022
Figure 1 (A and B) Right and left side venography prior to thrombolysis showing no contrast flow in the femoral veins. (C) Post thrombolysis venography. White arrow shows extensive collateral formation. Blue arrow: Vena cava hypoplasia/agenesis. Figure 2 Axial balanced fast field echo (BFFE) MRI images at L2/L3 level above the iliac bifurcation.

High penetrance of inferior vena cava system atresia in severe thrombophilia caused by homozygous antithrombin Budapest 3 variant: Description of a new syndrome

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, Volume 96, Issue 11, Page 1363-1373, November 2021., 2021
Abstract Atresia of inferior vena cava (IVC) is a rare congenital malformation associated with high risk of venous thrombosis that still has unknown etiology, although intrauterine IVC thrombosis has been suggested to be involved. The identification of IVC atresia in a case with early idiopathic venous thrombosis and antithrombin deficiency caused by ...

Bench thrombolysis and “autotransplantation” as a rescue treatment for venous thrombosis after living‐donor kidney transplantation

open access: yesPediatric Transplantation, Volume 25, Issue 7, November 2021., 2021
Abstract Background Allograft venous thrombosis is a severe complication after kidney transplantation (KT). Early diagnosis and prompt treatment are crucial in preserving the survival of the allograft. In this study, we aimed to describe an emergent strategy for the management of acute allograft venous thrombosis.

Endovascular management of symptomatic deep vein thrombosis with combined approach

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 9, Issue 9, September 2021., 2021
The combined used of thrombectomy with direct intravenous thrombolytic infusion provided effective treatment of DVT and uncovered an underlying left common iliac vein stenosis, which was successfully managed by angioplasty and stenting. Abstract The combined used of thrombectomy with direct intravenous thrombolytic infusion provided effective treatment
