Large Igneous Provinces (LIPs) and Anoxia Events in “The Boring Billion”

open access: yesGeophysical Monograph Series, Page 449-486., 2021

Exploring the links between Large Igneous Provinces and dramatic environmental impact

An emerging consensus suggests that Large Igneous Provinces (LIPs) and Silicic LIPs (SLIPs) are a significant driver of dramatic global environmental and biological changes, including mass extinctions.

Phase Diagrams of Carbonate Materials at High Pressures, with Implications for Melting and Carbon Cycling in the Deep Earth

open access: yesGeophysical Monograph Series, Page 137-165., 2020

This book is Open Access. A digital copy can be downloaded for free from Wiley Online Library.

Explores the behavior of carbon in minerals, melts, and fluids under extreme conditions

Carbon trapped in diamonds and carbonate-bearing rocks in subduction zones are examples of the continuing exchange of substantial carbon ...

METASOMATIC AND MAGMATIC PROCESSES IN THE MANTLE LITHOSPHERE OF THE BIREKTE TERRAIN OF THE SIBERIAN CRATON AND THEIR EFFECT ON THE LITHOSPHERE EVOLUTION

open access: yesГеодинамика и тектонофизика, 2015
The area of studies covers the north-eastern part of the Siberian craton (the Birekte terrain), Russia. The influence of metasomatic and magmatic processes on the mantle lithosphere is studied based on results of analyses of phlogopite- and phlogopite ...

A boulder of Ouachitite from Inderskär, Åland Islands, Finland [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Geological Society of Finland, 1975
The ouachitite is composed of phenocrysts of olivine, diopside, phlogopite, set in a fine-grained matrix with phlogopite, clinopyroxene, ore and calcite. Analyses of the rock and of several minerals are given. It is concluded that the boulder most likely

Geology and Geochemistry of the Early Proterozoic Kortejärvi and Laivajoki Carbonatites, Central Fennoscandian Shield, Finland [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Geological Society of Finland, 1997
This paper provides for the first time extensive petrological, mineralogical and geochemical data on the early Proterozoic Kortejärvi and Laivajoki carbonatites, northern Finland, which form metamorphosed and highly strained bodies 2 and 4 km long within

Petrogenesis of phlogopite-pyroxenite from Southern India: Implications for the link between Proterozoic subduction- to rift-related arc magmatism

open access: yesGeosystems and Geoenvironment, 2022
In this study, we investigate phlogopite-rich pyroxenite from a major terrain boundary, i.e., the interface of Nallamalai Fold Belt and Nellore schist belt, in southern India.

Combustion and Pyrolysis EA-IRMS Techniques to Determine the δ2H of Diamonds. [PDF]

open access: yesRapid Commun Mass Spectrom
ABSTRACT Rationale Diamonds are generally considered to be metasomatic minerals originating from the Earth's mantle. They formed through the interaction of carbon‐bearing fluids or melts with the surrounding deep lithology. Most knowledge about the formation of diamonds comes from studying their mineral inclusions or stable isotopes.

Syntheses of trioctahedral micas in the compositional join phlogopite-sodium phlogopite.

open access: yesJournal of the Mineralogical Society of Japan, 1986
The mica minerals were synthesized in the compositional join phlogopite(Ph)-sodium phlogopite at 1 kbar water pressure and 550°C by using starting oxide mixtures. The resulting phases were phlogopite, phlogopite solid solutions and saponite-like hydrate. Phlogopite was obtained from a Ph100 composition.
