Disease control in oilseed rape: Current insights and perspectives for next‐generation integrated pest management

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Winter oilseed rape in Europe suffers frequent pathogen losses. This review outlines key integrated pest management (IPM) strategies, rotation, residue and tillage management, optimized sowing, resistance, and targeted fungicides supported by forecasting.

Resistance to Leptosphaeria maculans (phoma stem canker) in Brassica napus (oilseed rape) induced by L. biglobosa and chemical defence activators in field and controlled environments

open access: yes, 2006
Effects of pretreatment of Brassica napus leaves with ascospores of Leptosphaeria biglobosa or chemical defence activators [acibenzolar-S-methyl (ASM) or menadione sodium bisulphite (MSB)] on infection by ascospores of Leptosphaeria maculans (phoma stem ...

Leptosphaeriaspp., phoma stem canker and potential spread ofL. maculanson oilseed rape crops in China [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In China, the incidence of phoma stem canker observed in pre-harvest surveys from 2005 to 2012 was greater on winter oilseed rape in provinces in central China (in May) than on spring oilseed rape in north China (in August).

Effects of fungicide on growth of Leptosphaeria maculans and L. biglobosa (phoma stem canker) in oilseed rape [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Controlled environment (CE) and field experiments were done to investigate effects of fungicide on growth of L. maculans and L. biglobosa in relation to development of phoma leaf spots and phoma stem canker on oilseed rape.

Discovery and characterisation of succinate dehydrogenase inhibitor resistance in Plenodomus biglobosus (phoma stem canker of oilseed rape)

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
SDHI resistance is reported and characterised for the first time in the oilseed rape phoma stem canker pathogen Plenodomus biglobosus (Leptosphaeria biglobosa). We investigate cross‐resistance patterns, associated SDH target‐site mutations, possible fitness costs, and consider the implications for disease and resistance management.

Decreased DMI sensitivity of Plenodomus biglobosus (phoma of oilseed rape) associated with CYP51 substitution G476S

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Here, we report for the first time a target site mutation in the CYP51 gene of the oilseed rape phoma stem canker fungus Plenodomus biglobosus (Leptosphaeria biglobosa) that is associated with decreased sensitivity to sterol demethylation inhibitor fungicides.

Phoma stem canker severity in controlled environment experiment.

open access: yes, 2018
Cultivar difference in the severity of phoma stem canker scored on a 0–6 scale (A) and the internal length of phoma stem canker symptoms (B) that had developed at 20°C by 49 days after inoculation of leaf petioles of different cultivars/lines with ...

Effects of fungicide of growth of leptosphaeria maculans and L. biglobosa in relation to phoma stem canker on oilseed rape (Brassica napus) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Controlled-environment and field experiments were done to investigate effects of the fungicide Punch C (flusilazole plus carbendazim) on growth of Leptosphaeria maculans and L. biglobosa in oilseed rape.

Efficacy of Fungicides on Coexisting Leptophaeria spp. Causing Phoma Stem Canker on Winter Oilseed Rape [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Phoma stem canker is a disease of oilseed rape (Brassica napus) caused by closely related plant pathogens Leptosphaeria maculans and L. biglobosa.

Systematic reappraisal of species in Phoma section Paraphoma, Pyrenochaeta and Pleurophoma [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Sequence data from the 18S nrDNA (SSU) and 28S nrDNA (LSU) regions of isolates of Phoma section Paraphoma were compared with those of representative isolates of the morphologically similar anamorph genera Pleurophoma and Pyrenochaeta and of the type ...
