Optimal wavelet denoising for phonocardiograms

Microelectronics Journal, 2001
Phonocardiograms (PCGs), recordings of heart sounds, have many advantages over traditional auscultation in that they may be replayed and analysed for spectral and frequency information. PCG is not a widely used diagnostic tool as it could be. One of the major problems with PCG is noise corruption.

THE PHONOCARDIOGRAM IN CONGENITAL HEART DISEASE

Australasian Annals of Medicine, 1959
SummaryPhonocardiograms recorded in a series of 440 cases of congenital heart disease have been analysed, and the patterns found in the chief conditions described. These patterns are typical in the great majority of cases, and a well‐taken phonocardiogram, while a relatively simple test, will greatly assist in establishing the diagnosis.

Fetal Phonocardiogram Decomposition Framework

SoutheastCon 2018, 2018
In this paper, an efficient procedure to identify vital bio-signals from the Fetal Phonocardiogram (FPCG) signal is presented. FPCG signal is rich in physiological bio-signals. However, extracting these bio-signals with fidelity is a challenging task since they overlap in time and frequency and as well as corrupted by noise induced from the maternal ...

The phonocardiogram in idiopathic dilatation of the pulmonary artery

The American Journal of Cardiology, 1964
Abstract Eight patients with idiopathic dilatation of the pulmonary artery were studied by right heart catheterization and phonocardiography. The data suggest that, although there is no single diagnostic feature, a rather characteristic pattern is found on analysis of the phonocardiogram; it consists of a normal first heart sound, a systolic click, a

Processing and analysis of foetal phonocardiograms

Images of the Twenty-First Century. Proceedings of the Annual International Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2003
A technique for segmenting the foetal phonocardiogram into the systolic and diastolic phases on a per beat basis is presented. All the parameters of cardiac function are thereby derivable. Contrary to other methods of automated segmentation, the system uses only one transducer and no other input.

Noise detection in smartphone phonocardiogram

2017 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2017
This paper presents a demo proposal of a standalone smartphone application that can automatically analyse the signal quality of PCG, as it is recorded on a low-cost smartphonebased digital stethoscope. Features, related to the inherent pattern of the autocorrelated signal envelope, have been used for classifying and discarding the noisy portions from a

Quantitative analysis of the phonocardiogram for detection of murmurs

Journal of Biomedical Engineering, 1979
A method is proposed for quantification of the phonocardiogram (PCG) signal into two parameters representing time and frequency domain characteristics of the signal into two parameters representing time and frequency domain characteristics of the signal. For this purpose the energy curve and power spectrum of the signal are used. Results of application

Computer analysis techniques for phonocardiogram diagnosis

Computers and Biomedical Research, 1976
Abstract An analysis procedure for small digital computers was developed to study heart sounds and heart murmurs in the frequency, time, and envelope domains. Signal processing techniques which can aid positive diagnosis are described and plots are presented to demonstrate their effectiveness.

A Synchronizer for Electrocardiograms, Phonocardiograms, and Cineangiocardiographic Studies

Radiology, 1964
In many studies to evaluate cardiovascular disease, it is desirable to synchronize the electrocardiogram and phonocardio-gram with the cineangiogram. This permits the individual film frames to be associated either with segments of the cardiac cycle or with various cardiac sounds that may be present. A simple circuit which records simultaneous pulses on
