Low thermal conductance platforms for mK tunnelling coolers [PDF]

open access: yes
The impact of the O2 content in SF6-O2 gas mixtures on the etch rate and sidewall profile of Silicon (Si), Germanium (Ge) and phosphorous doped Germanium (Ge:P) in reactive ion etching has been studied.

Spectrally Programmable Spin‐Polarized Photocurrents in WSe2–NiPS3 Magnetic van der Waals Heterostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Heterostructure photodiode devices of p‐type WSe2 with n‐type NiPS3 constructs spectrally protected spin‐polarized photocurrents. The energy of the excitation photon serves as an independent control parameter for spin‐selective photocurrent generation. ABSTRACT Efficient generation and control of spin‐polarized currents in semiconductors remain central

Strong Coupling in Bulk Nanoplasmonic Nanoplatelet Perovskite Scintillators

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A bulk scintillating nanocomposite is engineered from CsPbBr3 nanoplatelets and Ag nanocubes to support exciton–plasmon strong coupling under X‐ray excitation. The resulting hybrid polaritonic states appear directly in radioluminescence, opening a route toward polariton‐enabled scintillator design beyond conventional Purcell enhancement.

Electron–phonon processes of the silicon-vacancy centre in diamond

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2015
We investigate phonon induced electronic dynamics in the ground and excited states of the negatively charged silicon-vacancy ( ${\rm Si}{{{\rm V}}^{-}}$ ) centre in diamond.

The influence of NH4 doping on the elastic properties of RbH2AsO4 crystals

open access: yesScientific Reports
We report a systematic study of the elastic and dynamic properties of mixed Rb1-x(NH4)xH2AsO4 (RADA) crystals using high-resolution Brillouin light scattering over a broad temperature range (40–300 K). By varying the ammonium concentration, we reveal how

Examining Electron-Boson Coupling Using Time-Resolved Spectroscopy

open access: yesPhysical Review X, 2013
Nonequilibrium pump-probe time-domain spectroscopies can become an important tool to disentangle degrees of freedom whose coupling leads to broad structures in the frequency domain.

Controlled Growth of Boron Nitride in Various Phases

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Phase‐selective boron nitride growth is presented as a unified materials‐design problem across hexagonal, rhombohedral, cubic, and amorphous phases. By linking synthesis routes to thermodynamic stability, kinetic accessibility, surface diffusion, interfacial templating, and energetic activation, this review clarifies how bonding and stacking are ...

Recombination of localized quasiparticles in disordered superconductors

open access: yesNature Communications
Disordered superconductors offer new impedance regimes for quantum circuits, enable a pathway to protected qubits, and can improve superconducting detectors due to their high kinetic inductance and sheet resistance.

Paramagnetic relaxation: Direct and Raman relaxation of spin S=12

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Open
Paramagnetic relaxation in solids is a vast subject, about as vast as the range of manifestations of electron spin in matter. It is a complex subject as well: it is the interface between paramagnetic centres – be it transition metal ions, radicals or ...
