Unusual A-band spectra with well-resolved quasi-periodical phonon progressions of multiple peaks (N\(\sim \)9) were excited in a natural diamond by 515-nm, 300-fs laser pulses at variable pre-heating temperatures of 24-200oC.

PHONON BOTTLENECK IN PARAMAGNETIC CRYSTALS [PDF]
A unified treatment of phonon bottleneck theory is given, using a thermodynamic method which includes both the direct and Orbach processes. The key parameter is the phonon relaxation time, which is calculated in a variety of cases, including several in ...

Investigating the Low‐Temperature Phase Stability of the Binary Ta–W System
Atomistic simulations show that the binary Ta–W system forms ordered intermetallic phases, B2‐TaW and D03‐TaW3, as 0 K ground states. Configurational entropy, however, lowers the free energy of the disordered bcc solid solution, which becomes the stable phase above about 400 K.

In this work, the effect of electron–phonon (e–ph) coupling on both electron and phonon transport of metals is investigated. A Monte-Carlo (MC) approach for solving the coupled electron–phonon Boltzmann transport equation is developed to study the ...

The role of anharmonic phonons in under-barrier spin relaxation of single molecule magnets
Single molecule magnets exhibit faster spin relaxation rates than expected from models based on tunnelling through the relaxation barrier. Here, the authors show, using first principles calculations, that anharmonic spin-phonon interactions may explain ...

Phonon Boltzmann transport equation (BTE) is a key tool for modeling multiscale phonon transport, which is critical to the thermal management of miniaturized integrated circuits, but assumptions about the system temperatures (i.e., small temperature ...

A Multi‐Scale Machine Learning Framework for the Inverse Design of High Entropy Alloys
High‐entropy alloys offer vast potential for various applications, including electrocatalysis; however, their compositional complexity challenges conventional screening. We introduce an inverse‐design framework combining two neural networks to determine optimal compositions and reconstruct nanoparticle geometry from targeted properties and conventional

In MOCVD MoS2 memristors, a current compliance‐regulated Ag filament mechanism is revealed. The filament ruptures spontaneously during volatile switching, while subsequent growth proceeds vertically through the MoS2 layers and then laterally along the van der Waals gaps during nonvolatile switching.

We use scanning nitrogen vacancy magnetometry to directly image the weak in‐plane magnetic moments in mixed phase BiFeO3 at the nanoscale and quantify the local magnetic moments to be 18.8±2.0 μB/nm2 in the rhombohedral‐like phase and 1.5±0.6 μB/nm2 in the well‐known non‐magnetic tetragonal‐like phase.

Optical Signature of Moiré Superlattices Formed by Twisted SrTiO3 Membranes
We discover optical signatures from bonded interfaces in twisted SrTiO3 moiré superlattices, including low‐frequency Raman vibrational modes and strong second‐harmonic generation, consistent with strong interlayer coupling inferred from cross‐sectional electron microscopy and ab initio calculations. ABSTRACT Moiré superlattices formed at the interfaces
