Effects of Tween 20 addition on electrokinetic transport in a polydimethylsiloxane microchannel

open access: yesELECTROPHORESIS, Volume 45, Issue 23-24, Page 2082-2086, December 2024.
Abstract Tween 20 is frequently added to particle suspensions for reducing the particle–wall adhesion and particle–particle aggregation in microfluidic devices. However, the influences of Tween 20 on the fluid and particle behaviors have been largely ignored.

Meiofauna Life on Loggerhead Sea Turtles-Diversely Structured Abundance and Biodiversity Hotspots That Challenge the Meiofauna Paradox

open access: yesDiversity, 2020
Sea turtles migrate thousands of miles annually between foraging and breeding areas, carrying dozens of epibiont species with them on their journeys. Most sea turtle epibiont studies have focused on large-sized organisms, those visible to the naked eye ...

Light‐Induced Material Motion Fingerprint – A Tool Toward Selective Interfacial Sensitive Fractioning of Microparticles via Microfluidic Methods

open access: yesSmall, Volume 20, Issue 43, October 24, 2024.
A method is demonstrated for separating microparticles and microplastics distinguished differences in surface morphology (roughness, particles bulk material, and surface functionalization). The method uses advances of microfluidics in combination with illumination of a photosensitive surfactant solution within the shear flow.

Separation of Surface Grafted Microparticles via Light and Temperature

open access: yesSmall Science, Volume 4, Issue 10, October 2024.
A method for separating polymer‐grafted microparticles via distinguished differences in grafted polymer type and surface functionalization is demonstrated. The separation relies on differences in the velocity of the particles along a fluid flow induced by the combination of microfluidics, light, and temperature, where particles are dispersed in a ...

Assessment of the risk of stroke in children with sickle cell anemia using transcranial doppler ultrasound with imaging in Northwestern Nigeria

open access: yesNigerian Journal of Paediatrics, 2023
Background: Stroke is a major cause of morbidity and mortality affecting about 10% of patients with sickle cell anemia (SCA). Transcranial Doppler (TCD) ultrasonography helps to identify children with SCA who are at an increased risk for stroke.
