Bentonite surface modification and characterization for high selective phosphate adsorption from aqueous media and its application for wastewater treatments

open access: yesJournal of Water Reuse and Desalination, 2017
Raw and modified bentonite has been used to develop effective sorbents to remove phosphate from aqueous solution. Acid thermoactivation, Rewoquate, Irasoft, calcium, Fe and Al were employed to treat the bentonite.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Plasticizer Effects in the PVC Membrane of the Dibasic Phosphate Selective Electrode

open access: yesChemosensors, 2015
The PVC membrane of an ion-selective electrode (ISE) sensitive to dibasic phosphate ions (HPO4-ISE) has not been optimized for maximum selectivity, sensitivity, and useable ISE lifetime and further work was necessary to improve its performance. Two areas

Biochemical studies on plant glycerol-3- phosphate acyltransferase [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
sn-Glycerol-3-phosphate acyltransferase [G3PAT, PlsB (E.coli), EC 2.3.1.15] is an enzyme involved in glycerolipid biosynthesis, catalysing the acylation of glycerol-3-phosphate (G3P) to produce lysophosphatidic acid (LPA). Chilling tolerance in plants is

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Variability in phytic acid content in barley grain.

open access: yesKvasný průmysl, 2012
Around 65 % of phosphorus (P) in barley grain is in the form of phytic acid (PA) and phytates (PA salts), both forms negatively affect the usability of mineral substances and other important nutrients, thus participating in mineral deficiencies in human ...

Phosphate and the parathyroid [PDF]

open access: yesKidney International, 2009
The phosphate (Pi) retention in patients with chronic kidney disease leads to secondary hyperparathyroidism (2HPT). 2HPT is the physiological response of the parathyroid not only to Pi retention but also to decreased synthesis of 1,25(OH)(2) vitamin D, and the attendant hypocalcemia.
