Synthesis of Zwitterionic Phospholipid-Connected Silane Coupling Agents and Their Hybridization with Graphene Oxide.

open access: yesJournal of Oleo Science
The hybridization of lipids with graphene is expected to produce a promising, novel biomaterial. However, there are limited examples of the covalent introduction of lipid molecules, especially the immobilization of lipid molecules, onto graphene on a ...

Sphingosine 1‐phosphate (S1P) signalling: Role in bone biology and potential therapeutic target for bone repair

open access: yesPharmacological Research, 2017
&NA; The lipid mediator sphingosine 1‐phosphate (S1P) affects cellular functions in most systems. Interest in its therapeutic potential has increased following the discovery of its G protein‐coupled receptors and the recent availability of agents that ...

Shear Bond Strength of Stainless Steel Brackets Bonded to Porcelain Surface Treated with 1.23 % Acidulated Phosphate Fluoride Gel Compared to Hydro Fluoric Acid with Silane Coupling Agent : In Vitro Comparative Study

open access: yesJournal of Baghdad College of Dentistry, 2013
Background: With the increasing demands for adult orthodontics, a growing need arises to bond attachments to porcelain surfaces. Optimal adhesion to porcelain surface should allow orthodontic treatment without bond failure but not jeopardize porcelain integrity after debonding. The present study was carried out to compare the shear bond strength of ...

Adriamycin loading and release characteristics of albumin-heparin conjugate microspheres [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Biodegradable ion-exchange microspheres, prepared from a prefabricated conjugate of albumin and heparin were investigated as carriers for adriamycin. The ion-exchange microspheres could be loaded with adriamycin giving payloads up to 33% w/w, depending ...

Properties and stabilization of an extracellular α-glucosidase from the extremely thermophilic archaebacteria Thermococcus strain AN 1: enzyme activity at 130°C [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
An extracellular α-glucosidase from the thermophilic archaebacterium Thermococcus strain AN1 was purified 875-fold in five steps (Hiload Q-Sepharose, phenyl Sepharose, HPHT-hydroxyapatite, gel filtration and Mono Q chromatography) with a yield of 4%.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

A plug-and-play approach to antibody-based therapeutics via a chemoselective dual click strategy. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Although recent methods for the engineering of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) have gone some way to addressing the challenging issues of ADC construction, significant hurdles still remain.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Regioselective and stoichiometrically controlled conjugation of photodynamic sensitizers to a HER2 targeting antibody fragment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The rapidly increasing interest in the synthesis of antibody–drug conjugates as powerful targeted anticancer agents demonstrates the growing appreciation of the power of antibodies and antibody fragments as highly selective targeting moieties.
