Stress exposure in the mdx mouse model of Duchenne muscular dystrophy provokes a widespread metabolic response

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
A targeted mass spectrometry‐based metabolomics assay was conducted to identify the impact of stress exposure on the regulation of biological stress pathways in the mdx mouse model of Duchenne muscular dystrophy. We demonstrated a broad shift in the circulating stress‐relevant plasma metabolome associated with stressful scruff handling that was ...

Potency of agarose gel‐supported lipid bilayers for electrophysiologic analysis of channel pores formed by Bacillus thuringiensis insecticidal proteins

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Agarose gel‐supported lipid bilayers constructed at the interface between the lipid solution and the recording solution are useful for measuring channel currents through different types of toxin pores. In this system, the lipid bilayers can be easily reconstructed even after the bilayer is disrupted, and measurements of toxin pores could be repeated ...

On the synergy between myelin proteins P0, MBP, and P2 in peripheral nerve major dense line formation

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Myelin is a multilayered proteolipid membrane in the nervous system. The lipid membranes are held together by specific proteins, and here, we studied three such proteins—P0, MBP, and P2. Our experiments show that the three proteins may act in synergy at the molecular level, while they also compete for lipid membrane surface binding.
