Structural motifs in primary oxidation products of palmitoyl-arachidonoyl-phosphatidylcholines by LC-MS/MS.

Journal of Mass Spectrometry, 2013
Oxidative modifications to phospholipids (OxPL) play a major role in modulating signaling events in inflammation and infection, and complete understanding on the induced biological effects can only be understood based on knowledge of the oxidative motifs

The interaction of ions with phosphatidylcholine bilayers

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Biomembranes, 1977
Abstract The interaction of lanthanides and other cations with phosphatidylcholine bilayers present as single bilayer vesicles in 2H2O has been investigated in terms of stoichiometry, apparent binding constants and environmental conditions. Lanthanides are shown to form 2 : 1 (molar ratio) phosphatidylcholine to metal ion complexes.

Variations in the condensing effect of cholesterol on saturated versus unsaturated phosphatidylcholines at low and high sterol concentration.

Langmuir, 2011
In this work, we have investigated the condensing and ordering effect induced by cholesterol on phosphatidylcholines (PCs). To perform the studies systematically, for the experiments we have selected phospholipids differing only in the number of cis ...

The rippled structure in bilayer membranes of phosphatidylcholine and binary mixtures of phosphatidylcholine and cholesterol

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Biomembranes, 1980
Freeze-fracture electron microscopy is used to study the rippled texture in pure dimyristoyl and dipalmitoyl phosphatidylcholine membranes and in mixtures of dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine and cholesterol. Evidence is presented that the apparent phase transition properties of multilamellar liposomes may be dependent on the manner in which liposomes ...

Phase Transitions in Bilayer Membranes of Dioleoyl-Phosphatidylcholine/Dipalmitoyl-Phosphatidylcholine

Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 1979
Phase diagram has been determined with X-rays for bilayer membranes of mixed lipids of dioleoyl-phosphatidylcholine/dipalmitoyl-phosphatidylcholine in water. Observed liquidus lines were reproduced well by calculation on the assumption of ideal mixing of the two lipids.

Oxidative stability at high temperatures of oleyol and linoleoyl residues in the forms of phosphatidylcholines and triacylglycerols.

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2010
An investigation was carried out into the stability of fatty acyl groups to heat-induced oxidative changes as affected by their chemical environment.

Temperature Dependence of Dipalmitoyi Phosphatidylcholine/Diheptanoyl Phosphatidylcholine Aqueous Mixtures

Proceedings, annual meeting, Electron Microscopy Society of America, 1991
There is great interest in the process of lipid self-assembly, especially the microstructure formed from lipid mixtures. Spontaneous unilamellar vesicles have been reported by Roberts from mixtures of long-chain lecithins and short-chain lecithins. Alone, dipalmitoyi phophatidylcholine (DPPC) forms normal multilamellar phases, a solid Lβ phase up to ...

Lack of efficacy of phosphatidylcholine in ataxias

Neurology, 1988
We gave phosphatidylcholine orally at a daily dosage of 9 grams for 4 years to 20 subjects with Friedreich's ataxia (FA) and 24 with olivopontocerebellar atrophy (OPCA). There was no clinical improvement during the follow-up compared with 12 ataxic patients (six FA and six OPCA) who did not receive any treatment.
