Simulated phosphene model for visual prosthesis
2012 5th International Conference on BioMedical Engineering and Informatics, 2012Two simulated phosphene models were proposed in this paper. Model I was based on uniform or Gaussian round or square spots which arranged in rectangle or hexagonal arrays. Model II was based on partial clinical experiment data of one optic nerve prosthesis research. Numbers, letters and Chinese characters were pixelated by these models. The feasibility

TEMPERATURE AND THE PHOSPHENE THRESHOLD MEASURE
Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1959Since the temperature of the experimental environment is known to be an important factor relevant to cff threshold determinations (Landis, 1951), one logically could expect some similar effects to be operating while phosphene threshold determinations were being made.

Retinal prosthesis phosphene shape analysis
2008 30th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2008A retinal prosthesis system to restore sight for the blind is under development. The system is analogous to cochlear implants, in which photoreceptor input is bypassed and replaced by direct electrical stimulation of the retinal ganglion cells. Currently, six test subjects have been implanted with a 4x4 electrode array and stimulator.

To the Editor: —I read with great interest the observations of Dr. K. W. Ascher (Arch Ophthal70:444, 1963) on a pinwheel phosphene. I have recently treated a local optician who noted the appearance of a slowly revolving "black and white fan" which preceded the development of a paramacula scotoma from chorioretinal inflammatory disease of undetermined ...
