Trends in activity for the oxygen evolution reaction on transition metal (M = Fe, Co, Ni) phosphide pre-catalysts† †Electronic supplementary information (ESI) available. See DOI: 10.1039/c7sc05033j

open access: yesChemical Science, 2018
A notable trend in OER activity on transition metal phosphide pre-catalysts is reported. Remarkably, the tri-metallic FeCoNiP pre-catalysts exhibit exceptional apparent and intrinsic OER activities, outperforming many non-precious OER catalysts reported ...

Hybrid Solar Spectral‐Splitting Photovoltaic‐Thermal Hydrogen Production Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A hybrid solar photovoltaic‐thermal hydrogen system with membrane‐less electrolysis significantly boosts solar‐to‐hydrogen efficiency by co‐using thermal and electrical energy. The system attains good performance under variable irradiance with direct current power converters.

Noble Metal Nanoparticles Anchored on Transition Metal Phosphides for Effective pH‐Universal Hydrogen Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Seven types of noble metal‐transition metal phosphide hybrids are analyzed through theoretical calculations. Based on these theoretical results, a promising Pt‐CoP hybrid is prepared, consisting of strongly coupled Pt nanoparticles and CoP nanowires connected by robust Pt─P─Co bonds.

Si Decoration Tuning the Electrocatalytic Activity of Ru via Turing Pattern Design

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Regulating the surface properties of noble metals through the introduction of heteroatoms is crucial for designing high‐performance catalysts. By constructing a unique Ru‐SiOx interleaved Turing‐patterned structure, tunable Si‐decorated Ru surfaces are achieved. Through precise, stepwise control of the Si content, the surface electronic states of Ru is

An Innovative Approach to Precisely Tailor the Composition of Syngas in CO2 Electroreduction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A new CuIn/BP (copper‐indium/black phosphorus) heterostructure catalyst is designed and synthesized by simple one‐step co‐reduction. A linear correlation is observed between the H2/CO molar ratio and the content of BP in CuIn/BP for the first time. By simply altering the content of BP in the catalyst, H2/CO ratio in syngas could be precisely tuned on ...
