A Gravitational Shielding Based on ZnS:Ag Phosphor [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2001
It was shown that there is a practical possibility of gravity control on electroluminescent (EL) materials (physics/0109060). We present here a type Gravitational Shielding based on an EL phosphor namely zinc sulfide doped with silver (ZnS:Ag) which can reduce the cost of the Gravitational Motor previously presented.

Synthesis of enantiopure building blocks for biologically active compounds by enzyme catalysis. Optimizing reaction conditions for increased enantioselectivity and activity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Efficient methods for synthesis of enantiomerically pure enantiomers of a series of secondary alcohols and butanoates have been performed by kinetic resolution of the racemic alcohols and esters catalyzed by lipase B from Candida antarctica (Novozym 435).

Phosphorous alloying: controlling the magnetic anisotropy in ferromagnetic (Ga,Mn)(As,P) Layers [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2009
Phosphorous alloying of GaMnAs thin films has been used for the manipulation of the magnetic anisotropies in ferromagnetic Ga0.93Mn0.07As1-yPy layers. We have determined the anisotropy constants as a function of temperature for phosphorous alloying levels between 0 and 8.8 at % for a Mn doping level of ~ 7at%.

Dynamics of Coordinated Phosphonate Group Directly Observed by 17O-NMR in Lanthanide(III) Complexes of a Mono(ethyl phosphonate) DOTA Analogue.

open access: yesChemistry
Biological phosphates can coordinate metal ions and their complexes are common in living systems. Dynamics of mutual oxygen atom exchange in the tetrahedral group in complexes has not been investigated. Here, we present a direct experimental proof of the

GREAT EXPECTATIONS: PHOSPH(ON)ATE PRODRUGS IN DRUG DESIGN—OPPORTUNITIES AND LIMITATIONS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Phosphate and phosphonates are chemical moieties with historical precedence in anticancer and antiviral nucleotide analogues. Synchronous to modern efforts identifying novel therapeutic targets in cancer, such chemical moieties are being investigated in ...

Effects and influence of the urea component of an organomineral fertiliser on phosphorus mineralisation in a low-P index arable and grassland soil [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Addition of organic waste such as sewage sludge (biosolids) has been recognised as one of the cost effective method of waste recycling practice of maintaining levels of organic matter in agriculture.

Structure-function relationships in a glycosyltransferase, a phosphatase and an oxidoreductase [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Dissertation presented to obtain the Ph.D degree in BiochemistryEnzyme evolution is often constrained by aspects of catalysis. Mechanistically diverse enzymes evolved from a common ancestor still preserve those structural signatures essential to the ...

Broadband NIR photon upconversion generates NIR persistent luminescence for bioimaging [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Upconversion persistent luminescence (UCPL) phosphors that can be directly charged by near-infrared (NIR) light have gained considerable attention due to their promising applications ranging from photonics to biomedicine. However, current lanthanide-based UCPL phosphors show small absorption cross-sections and low upconversion charging efficiency.

Unified Theory of Thermal Quenching in Inorganic Phosphors [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
We unify two prevailing theories of thermal quenching (TQ) in rare-earth-activated inorganic phosphors - the cross-over and auto-ionization mechanisms - into a single predictive model. Crucially, we have developed computable descriptors for activator environment stability from ab initio molecular dynamics simulations to predict TQ under the cross-over ...
