Imazalil (IMZ) is a widely used fungicide for the post-harvest treatment of citrus, classified as "likely to be carcinogenic in humans" for EPA, that can be only partially removed by conventional biological treatment. Consequently, specific or combined processes should be applied to prevent its release to the environment.

Photo-Fenton effect of 4-chlorophenol in ice
Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2013The photoconversion of 4-chlorophenol (4-CP) in a simulated sunlight-Fenton system was investigated in ice and aqueous solution. It was found that the hydroxyl radical (OH) had an important effect on the photoconversion of 4-CP in both phases, but the effects of Cl(-), SO4(2-), NO3(-), and HCO3(-) were different.

Abstract A comparative study between the visible light induced photo-Fenton system (light/Fe 2+ /H 2 O 2 , P-F) and photo-Fenton like system (light/Fe 2+ /S 2 O 8 2− , P-FL) was carried out for the degradation of antibiotic sulfamethazine (SMZ). It was found that white-LED light could enhance the SMZ degradation in both photochemical systems.
