Proceedings of the 5th ACM Workshop on Information Hiding and Multimedia Security, 2017
Since 2014, a novel approach to attack face image based person verification designated as face morphing attack has been actively discussed in the biometric and media forensics communities. Up until that point, modern travel documents were considered to be extremely hard to forge or to successfully manipulate.

Me, Myself, and I: Different Recognition Rates for Three Photo-IDs of the Same Person
Perception, 2011In all contemporary societies, photo-identity documents are used routinely for person identification, but this process is surprisingly fallible. Here we show that this problem is not limited to the identification of specific photographs of a person, but transcends three identity cards of the same person with different images.

Solving the user-to-host binding problem in ad hoc networks through photo-ids
Proceedings of the 4th ACM workshop on Performance evaluation of wireless ad hoc, sensor, and ubiquitous networks, 2007The practical use of a name as a more user-friendly abstraction of a machine's numerical address on a network is quite old. In fact, the basic functionality of the DNS (Domain Name System) service consists of translating hostnames into IP addresses.

A Guide to Northern Bottlenose Whale Photo ID
This guide focuses on using Adobe Lightroom and Flukebook to facilitate the photo identification of northern bottlenose dorsal fins and melons. It was initially developed in the process of integrating photos from a long-term photo-identification dataset of northern bottlenose whales (NBW) from 1988-2019, which included incorporating previous ...Feyrer, Laura Joan +2 more

Observations of spotted eagle rays (Aetobatus narinari) in the Mexican Caribbean using photo-ID
Environmental Biology of Fishes, 2017The spotted eagle ray is an iconic species for the recreational diving and snorkeling industry in the Mexican Caribbean although it is heavily fished in nearby waters of the southern Gulf of Mexico and in Cuba. This species is listed on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as ‘Near Threatened’ with a decreasing population trend.

Effects of Photo ID Laws on Registration and Turnout: Evidence from Rhode Island
2019We study the effect of photo ID laws on voting using a difference-in-differences estimation approach around Rhode Island’s implementation of a photo ID law. We employ anonymized administrative data to measure the law’s impact by comparing voting behavior among those with drivers’ licenses versus those without, before versus after the law.

Abstract We develop a Bayesian statistical model for estimating bowhead whale population size from photo-identification data when most of the population is uncatchable. The proposed conditional likelihood function is a product of Darroch's model, formulated as a function of the number of good photos, and a binomial distribution of captured whales given

Evaluation of photo-ID technique to estimate harbour seal numbers in Gullmarsfjorden, Sweden
2022To be able to preserve areas in nature in a careful way a good understanding of the biodiversity living there is needed. The harbour seals are a top predator that affect and is affected by the whole food chain and plays a vital role in the ecosystem. Some seals migrate long distances and some are relatively stationary, it is therefore very important ...
