Emissivity determination using the photoacoustic effect

Applied Optics, 2018
We show that emissivities in the near infrared can be determined relative to a reference surface employing the photoacoustic effect. The photoacoustic cell is equipped with two windows and a pair of synchronously moving chopping wheels so that the cell alternately views the test and the reference surface.

Needle visualization using photoacoustic effect

SPIE Proceedings, 2015
We investigated a novel needle visualization using the PA effect to enhance needle-tip tracking. An optical fiber and laser source are used to generate acoustic waves inside the needle with the PA effect. Acoustic waves are generated along the needle. Some amount of acoustic energy leaks into the surrounding material.

Pulsed Laser Excited Photoacoustic Effect for Disease Diagnosis and Therapy.

Chemistry, 2022
Pulsed laser can excite light absorber to generate photoacoustic (PA) effect, that is, when the absorber is irradiated with pulsed laser, the absorbed light energy is converted into local heat to cause rapid thermoelastic expansion and generate acoustic ...

Boosting Photoacoustic Effect via Intramolecular Motions Amplifying Thermal-to-Acoustic Conversion Efficiency for Adaptive Image-Guided Cancer Surgery.

Angewandte Chemie, 2021
Photoacoustic (PA) imaging emerges as a promising technique for biomedical applications. The development of new strategies to boost PA conversion without depressing other properties (e.g., fluorescence) is highly desirable for multifunctional imaging but

An optofluidic dye concentration detector based on the pulsed photoacoustic effect

BiOS, 2021
We report the development of an opto-acousto-fluidic platform by combining an illumination source in the form of a pulsed laser, a microfluidic channel, and an ultrasound transducer to detect photoacoustic signals generated from the fluid sample inside ...

Moiré signals by the photoacoustic effect

Optics Letters, 1990
We report the detection of moiré displacement signals using the photoacoustic effect. By using the transmission and reflection (absorption) gratings with a 25microm pitch, the lateral displacement of the grating is detected from the photoacoustic signals.

Effect of Optimized Irrigation With Photon‐Induced Photoacoustic Streaming on Smear Layer Removal, Dentin Microhardness, Attachment Morphology, and Survival of the Stem Cells of Apical Papilla

Lasers in Surgery and Medicine, 2021
This study aimed to evaluate the effect of optimized irrigation with photon‐induced photoacoustic streaming (PIPS) activation of different irrigants (distilled water or ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid [EDTA]) on smear layer removal, dentin microhardness,
