Theory of the Photoacoustic Effect in Photoactive Samples

A theory of the photoacoustic (PA) effect in photoactive samples is presented. It takes into account two heat sources corresponding to the radiationless relaxation processes of two states with different lifetimes and heat diffusion across the sample. The amplitude and the phase of the PA signal depend on the lifetime of the long-lived excited state and
