Photoacoustic spectroscopy: a measurement technique for low absorption coefficients
Applied Optics, 1977The case in which a laser beam modulated at angular frequency omega passes through the weakly absorbing windows of a gas cell which contains a nonabsorbing gas is investigated in this paper. In particular, the frequency dependences of the acoustic stresses in the gas which arise from the surface and bulk absorption are derived. An intermediate range of

Thermal NDE techniques-from photoacoustics to thermosonics
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2002The evolution of thermal wave imaging and materials characterization is traced from its origins during the time of the First International Workshop on Photoacoustics and Photothermal Phenomena in Ames, Iowa in 1979 to the present, and with an eye to the future.

Photoacoustic, photothermal, and related techniques: a review
Canadian Journal of Physics, 1986A review is presented of the current theoretical and conceptual understanding of physical processes involved in photoacoustic and photothermal techniques, and in related techniques employing particle beams. Emphasis is given to recent developments, and to problems needing attention.

Thermal diffusivity of NTC layers obtained with photoacoustic technique
Microelectronics International, 2004The thermal diffusivity of thick film NTC layers based on a metal oxide powder mixture was measured at room temperature by the photoacoustic (PA) technique. The powder mixture was composed of MnO (60 percent), CoO (32 percent) and Fe2O3 (8 percent), which were ball milled to nanometer particle size.

Photoacoustic technique for determining optical absorption coefficients in solids
Applied Optics, 1977An investigation was made of a photoacoustic technique for determining the optical absorption coefficient in solids. A train of laser pulses was passed through the solid, and a piezoelectric transducer attached directly to the sample measured the amplitude of the elastic wave generated by the absorbed radiation.

Photoacoustic microscopy with a new modulation technique
Applied Physics Letters, 1981A new type of photoacoustic microscopy is described in which the beam position, rather than the beam intensity, is modulated. It is demonstrated experimentally that the new technique provides greater detail and contrast than conventional photoacoustic microscopy.
