Photocorrosion of strontium titanate photoanodes

Solar Energy Materials, 1981
Abstract The photocorrosion of a strontium titanate photoanode was studied under acidic, neutral and alkaline conditions. It was found that in 0.5 M H2SO4, SrTiO3 corrodes very rapidly upon band-gap irradiation with an external bias. Assuming that the photocorrosion is a two-hole process releasing strontium ions, we calculated that the corrosion ...

Iron based photoanodes for solar fuel production

Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2014
In natural photosynthesis, the water splitting reaction of photosystem II is the source of the electrons/reducing equivalents for the reduction of carbon dioxide to carbohydrate while oxygen is formed as the by-product. Similarly, for artificial photosynthesis where the end product is a solar fuel such as hydrogen, a water splitting-oxygen evolving ...

Nanostructured α-Fe2O3 Photoanodes

2011
Due to its abundance, stability, and ability to absorb solar irradiation, Hematite, α-Fe2O3, has been investigated for its application in solar hydrogen production via water splitting for more than three decades. However, the recent application of nanostructuring techniques has provided significant advances in the performance of hematite photoanodes ...

TiO2 photoanodes for electrically enhanced water splitting

International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, 2010
Photoelectrochemical properties of self-organized TiO2 nanotubes formed by electrochemical anodization of titanium sheets and their working mechanism are investigated. Formation and growth of self-organized nanotubes were carried out by Titanium anodization in acid electrolyte containing fluorides.

PHOTOANODIC ENGRAVING OF HOLOGRAMS ON SILICON

Applied Physics Letters, 1970
Holograms have been recorded on the surface of Si by means of a photoanodic reaction. Resolution better than 2500 lines/mm have been achieved in holographically recorded gratings. Diffuse object holograms with reconstruction efficiencies as high as 10% have also been obtained.

Optimizing charge extraction in oxynitride photoanodes

2021
Our dependency on fossil fuels remains the largest contributing factor to anthropogenic climate change. One potential solution to our energy supply problem could be to harness our largest source of renewable energy – our sun – in the form of the solar fuel.

The photoelectrochemical properties of Sn2Nb2O7 photoanode

Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 2019
Abstract Sn2Nb2O7 photoanode has been fabricated by the electrophoretic deposition method and its photoelectrochemical (PEC) properties were studied carefully. The energy band structure of Sn2Nb2O7 was analyzed by Mott-Schottky plots, the results show that its energy band structure matches the requirement of PEC water splitting, the low absolute ...

Hemisquaraine Dye Performance on Different Photoanodes

2013
We have recently proposed a new metal-free organic dye, CT1, based on a simple hemisquaraine molecule. The CT1 dye is prepared following an easy and inexpensive three steps synthesis: quaternarization, coupling and hydrolysis, according to a classical procedure for hemisquaraine dyes.

Studies on polycrystalline cadmium sulphide photoanodes

Journal of Power Sources, 1988
The spectral dependence of absolute quantum efficiency for chemically deposited cadmium sulphide thin-film electrodes in 1 M NaOH: 0.1 M Na2S:0.1 M S, is reported. A peak quantum efficiency of 1.75 × 10−2 is observed at λ = 560 nm. The diffusion length of minority carriers has been calculated from Gartner's photocurrent equation.
