Photoassociation of universal Efimov trimers [PDF]
In view of recent experiments in ultracold atomic systems, the photoassociation of Efimov trimers, composed of three identical bosons, is studied utilizing the multipole expansion. We study both the normal hierarchy case, where one-body current is dominant, and the strong hierarchy case, relevant for photoassociation in ultracold atoms, where two-body ...

Driving superfluidity with photoassociation [PDF]
We theoretically examine photoassociation of a two-component Fermi degenerate gas. Our focus is on adjusting the atom-atom interaction, and thereby increasing the critical temperature of the BCS transition to the superfluid state. In order to avoid spontaneous decay of the molecules, the photoassociating light must be far-off resonance. Very high light

Pulsed adiabatic photoassociation via scattering resonances [PDF]
We develop the theory for the Adiabatic Raman Photoassociation (ARPA) of ultracold atoms to form ultracold molecules in the presence of scattering resonances. Based on a computational method in which we replace the continuum with a discrete set of "effective modes", we show that the existence of resonances greatly aids in the formation of deeply bound ...

Two-photon coherent control of femtosecond photoassociation [PDF]
Photoassociation with short laser pulses has been proposed as a technique to create ultracold ground state molecules. A broad-band excitation seems the natural choice to drive the series of excitation and deexcitation steps required to form a molecule in its vibronic ground state from two scattering atoms. First attempts at femtosecond photoassociation

Photon echoes of molecular photoassociation [PDF]
Revivals of optical coherence of molecular photoassociation driven by two ultrashort laser pulses are addressed in the Condon approach. Based on textbook examples and numerical simulation of KrF excimer molecules, a prediction is made about an existence of photon echo on free-bound transitions.

Formation of ultracold RbCs molecules by photoassociation [PDF]
The formation of ultracold metastable RbCs molecules is observed in a double species magneto-optical trap through photoassociation below the ^85Rb(5S_1/2)+^133Cs(6P_3/2) dissociation limit followed by spontaneous emission. The molecules are detected by resonance enhanced two-photon ionization.

Precision measurement of atom-dimer interaction in a uniform planar Bose gas
Cold quantum gases, when acted upon by electromagnetic fields, can give rise to samples where isolated atoms coexist with dimers or trimers, which raises the question of the interactions between these various constituents.
