TiO2 Photocatalysis [PDF]

open access: possible, 2014
This work is completed with a summary and a brief outlook for the further improvement of the photocatalytic performance when this chromium element is incorporated into TiO2 oxide growing on quartz and porous multicrystalline silicon substrates. These photosensitivity tests emerged as a new way to show the important role of the structural modification ...

Heterogeneous Photocatalysis

2018
This chapter briefly presents the fundamentals of the processes of heterogeneous photocatalysis (PC). In particular, Langmuir–Hinshelwood and Eley–Rideal models that are often used to model the kinetics of heterogeneous photocatalytic reactions are described together with other models and equations derived.

Photocatalysis in microreactors

Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology A: Chemistry, 2004
Abstract A photocatalytic microreactor with immobilized titanium dioxide as photocatalyst and illuminated by UV-A light emitting diodes was constructed and tested for the degradation of the model substance 4-chlorophenol. The microreactor consisted of 19 channels with a cross-section of approximately 200 μm ×300  μm.

Polyoxometalates in photocatalysis

Physical Sciences Reviews, 2019
Abstract Recent developments in polyoxometalate photochemistry are discussed with a focus on visible light driven productive chemical reactions. Special attention is given to the fundamental photochemistry of polyoxometalates and the effects on the resulting photoprocesses.

Introduction to Photocatalysis

2016
The year 2012 was the centenary of the famous article “The photochemistry of the future”. In this inspiring article, the Italian photochemist G. Ciamician presented his great vision of the future aspects of solar energy imagining a chemical industry where chemicals could be manufactured in a similar way to photosynthesis as used by plants in the ...

Standardisation and Photocatalysis

2013
Photocatalysis is a phenomenon by which UV radiation, activating a catalyst, induces oxidation-reduction chemical reactions of pollutants which are thus degraded. The most commonly used photocatalyst is titanium dioxide (TiO2) in anatase form, which can be used in diverse forms (powder or deposited on some supports such as glass, fabrics, cement-based ...
