Heterogeneous Photocatalysis

2018
This chapter briefly presents the fundamentals of the processes of heterogeneous photocatalysis (PC). In particular, Langmuir–Hinshelwood and Eley–Rideal models that are often used to model the kinetics of heterogeneous photocatalytic reactions are described together with other models and equations derived.

Polyoxometalates in photocatalysis

Physical Sciences Reviews, 2019
Abstract Recent developments in polyoxometalate photochemistry are discussed with a focus on visible light driven productive chemical reactions. Special attention is given to the fundamental photochemistry of polyoxometalates and the effects on the resulting photoprocesses.

New Insight into Daylight Photocatalysis of AgBr@Ag: Synergistic Effect between Semiconductor Photocatalysis and Plasmonic Photocatalysis

Chemistry – A European Journal, 2012
AbstractNoble metal nanoparticles (NPs) are often used as electron scavengers in conventional semiconductor photocatalysis to suppress electron–hole (e−–h+) recombination and promote interfacial charge transfer, and thus enhance photocatalytic activity of semiconductors.

Introduction to Photocatalysis

2016
The year 2012 was the centenary of the famous article “The photochemistry of the future”. In this inspiring article, the Italian photochemist G. Ciamician presented his great vision of the future aspects of solar energy imagining a chemical industry where chemicals could be manufactured in a similar way to photosynthesis as used by plants in the ...

Evanescent wave photocatalysis

Chemical Physics Letters, 2007
Abstract By introducing a new experimental approach, capable of producing macroscopic fluxes of excited reagents, it has been possible to demonstrate the first surface chemical reaction with electronically excited species. We report a quantum yield close to one for dissociative adsorption of electronically excited SO 2 molecules on a surface leading

Turnovers and photocatalysis

Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology A: Chemistry, 2000
Abstract In previous articles we dwelled on the usage of relative photonic efficiencies [N. Serpone, G. Suave, R. Koch, H. Tahiri, P. Pichat, P. Piccinini, E. Pelizzetti, H. Hidaka, J. Photochem. Photobiol. A: Chem. 94 (1996) 191; N. Serpone, J. Photochem. Photobiol. A: Chem. 104 (1997) 1] and quantum yields Φ [N. Serpone, R. Terziaw, D.
