Strategic Spatial Segregation in Silicon Photoelectrodes: Decoupling Catalytic and Optical Functions for High‐Efficiency Solar Water Splitting

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 6, Issue 5, May 2025.
A novel spatial segregation strategy for silicon photoelectrodes is demonstrated, where catalyst wires surrounded by tapered microwires effectively decouple competing optical and catalytic requirements. This architectural innovation enables optimal light absorption and catalytic activity while maintaining efficient charge transport, achieving 96.5 ...

Interventional human ocular safety experiments for 222‐nm far‐ultraviolet‐C lamp irradiation

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, Volume 101, Issue 2, Page 517-526, March/April 2025.
To directly assess the ocular safety of 222‐nm far‐ultraviolet‐C (UVC) irradiation in humans, five subjects were exposed to 222‐nm UVC at doses of 22, 50, and 75 mJ/cm2. The findings indicate that far‐UVC irradiation does not cause “clinically significant photokeratitis” or long‐term ocular damage, though it may induce temporary discomfort.

Photocathode behavior during high current running in the Cornell energy recovery linac photoinjector

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2011
The Cornell University energy recovery linac (ERL) photoinjector has recently demonstrated operation at 20 mA for approximately 8 hours, utilizing a multialkali photocathode deposited on a Si substrate. We describe the recipe for photocathode deposition,

Single Atom‐Modified TiO2‐Based Catalysts for Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting: From Fundamentals to Future Prospects

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 9, Issue 6, November 2026.
Hydrogen and oxygen generated from water splitting process by photoelectrocatalysis of single atom modified TiO2 based photoelectrocatalysts. The accelerating demand for green hydrogen has intensified the development of efficient and durable photoelectrocatalysts (PECs) for sustainable water splitting.

Millisecond Flash Photonic Regeneration of Conductive Copper From CuO Thin Films

open access: yesIsrael Journal of Chemistry, Volume 66, Issue 6, November 2026.
Millisecond flash photonic heating regenerates conductive copper from fully oxidized CuO thin films. Pulse trains partially reduce dense, ≈50 nm pulsed‐laser‐deposited CuO into a laterally heterogeneous Cu/Cu2O/CuO composite spanning the film, tuned by repetition number alone.

Comparison between gradient-doping GaAs photocathode and uniform-doping GaAs photocathode

open access: yes, 2007
We compared two reflection-mode negative electron affinity (NEA) GaAs photocathode samples that are grown by molecular beam epitaxy with p-type beryllium doping. One sample is uniform doping, and another is gradient doping.
