Photochemical efficiency in pineapple plants under saline water irrigation
Studies determining physiological characteristics of field-grown pineapples irrigated with low-quality water are lacking. This work evaluated the photochemical efficiency of ‘Pérola’ pineapple irrigated with saline water in the semiarid region of Bahia ...

We have developed 1-D photochemical and thermochemical kinetics and diffusion models for the transiting exoplanets HD 189733b and HD 209458b to study the effects of disequilibrium chemistry on the atmospheric composition of "hot Jupiters." Here we ...

Photochemical and Nonphotochemical Fluorescence Quenching Processes in the Diatom Phaeodactylum tricornutum [PDF]
Nonphotochemical fluorescence quenching was found to exist in the dark-adapted state in the diatom Phaeodactylum tricornutum. Pretreatment of cells with the uncoupler carbonylcyanide m-chlorophenylhydrazone (CCCP) or with nigericin resulted in increases in dark-adapted minimum and maximum fluorescence yields.

Dehydroascorbate Reductase Affects Non-photochemical Quenching and Photosynthetic Performance [PDF]
Ascorbic acid (Asc) is a major antioxidant involved in photoprotection and photosynthetic function in plants. Dehydroascorbate reductase (DHAR) catalyzes the regeneration of Asc from its oxidized state and serves as an important regulator of Asc recycling.

Effects of partial defoliation on the growth, ion relations and photosynthesis of Lycium chinense Mill. under salt stress [PDF]
In this study, we investigated the effects of artificial defoliation on the growth and physiological response of Lycium chinense Mill. to salt stress. Our results show that partial defoliation increases the plant relative growth rate, leaf water

On the abundance of non-cometary HCN on Jupiter
Using one-dimensional thermochemical/photochemical kinetics and transport models, we examine the chemistry of nitrogen-bearing species in the Jovian troposphere in an attempt to explain the low observational upper limit for HCN.

The NADPH-Dependent thioredoxin reductase C-2-Cys peroxiredoxin redox system modulates the activity of thioredoxin x in arabidopsis chloroplasts [PDF]
The chloroplast redox network is composed of a complex set of thioredoxins (Trxs), reduced by ferredoxin (Fdx) via a Fdx-dependent Trx reductase (FTR), and an NADPH-dependent Trx reductase with a joint Trx domain, NTRC, which efficiently reduces 2-Cys ...

Abstract The induction and relaxation of photochemistry and non-photochemical quenching (NPQ) are not instantaneous and require time to respond to fluctuating environments. There is a lack of integrated understanding on how photochemistry and NPQ influence photosynthesis in fluctuating environments.
