Sustained Release of Proteins Using Region‐Specific Tunable Degradability in Hydrogels through 3D Photopatterning and Complimentary Labile Bond Chemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A series of ultraviolet‐ and near‐infrared radiation sensitive photoactivatable hydrogels are developed that can be controlled spatiotemporally down to µm precisions using one‐ and two‐photon uncaging. The latent hydroxylamine‐, hydrazine‐, and amine uncaged moieties are used to photopattern a series of diverse proteins displaying complimentary ...

Photochemistry in Terrestrial Exoplanet Atmospheres I: Photochemistry Model and Benchmark Cases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We present a comprehensive photochemistry model for exploration of the chemical composition of terrestrial exoplanet atmospheres. The photochemistry model is designed from the ground up to have the capacity to treat all types of terrestrial planet atmospheres, ranging from oxidizing through reducing, which makes the code suitable for applications for ...

Superlubricious Surfaces Through Surface Attached Hydrogels Obtained by C,H‐insertion Crosslinking

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Taking synovial joints as a source of inspiration, the friction properties of surfaces covered with 1d‐swelling polyelectrolyte hydrogels in combination with a shear‐thinning aqueous lubricant are studied. Such systems obtained by C,H insertion crosslinking show superlubricious behavior, even surpassing the friction values reported for the natural ...

Catalytic oxidative degradation of crystal violet dye using NanoCopper oxide encapsulated zeolite catalyst

open access: yesResults in Surfaces and Interfaces, 2023
A new active zeolite supported copper catalyst was developed from coal fly ash (FA) by immobilization of copper nanoparticles. Zeolite (Zeo) was created by FA via acid and hydrothermal synthesis methods.

Quinoline‐Coupled Coumarin‐Based Ruthenium(II) Dye Sensitizer for Photoelectrochemical Cells and Solar Cells: A Mimic for an Artificial‐Light‐Harvesting System

open access: yesAdvanced Energy & Sustainability Research, 2021
The conversion of solar energy into chemical energy by the use of dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) and dye‐sensitized photoelectrochemical cells (DSPECs) has been considered a convenient method in recent years.

Laboratory measurements and methane photochemistry modeling [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
Methane is photolyzed by the solar UV in the stratosphere of Saturn. Subsequent photochemistry leads to the production of acetylene (C2H2) and diacetylene (C4H2). These species are produced where it is relatively warm (T is greater than or equal to 140 K)

Photoactivated chemotherapy (PACT) : the potential of excited-state d-block metals in medicine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The fields of phototherapy and of inorganic chemotherapy both have long histories. Inorganic photoactivated chemotherapy (PACT) offers both temporal and spatial control over drug activation and has remarkable potential for the treatment of cancer ...

Making Photoresponsive Metal–Organic Frameworks an Effective Class of Heterogeneous Photocatalyst

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes photoresponsive MOFs for photocatalytic applications, focusing on their capacity to enhance light harvesting, charge transfer, and surface reactions. While existing studies provide foundational insights, emerging characterization techniques enable a deeper understanding of photoresponsive MOFs.

Ultra‐Effective Light‐Activated Antibacterial Activity via Carboxyl Functionalized Graphene Quantum Dots and Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Carboxyl‐functionalized graphene quantum dots (cGQDs) exhibit high singlet oxygen quantum yield due to strong spin–orbit coupling. cGQDs achieve minimum bactericidal concentration of only 0.4 µg mL−1 against S. aureus under low‐intensity illumination.
