Confined Hot Carrier Cooling Via Excited‐State Energy Gap Engineering in Graphyne Carbon Allotropes

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
The excited‐state energy gap (EEG), regulated by the concentration of sp‐hybridized carbon, provides an effective handle for tuning electron–phonon coupling behavior. This design enables long‐lived confinement of hot carriers near the top of the EEG with controllable energy levels.

Photodissociation and the Morphology of HI in Galaxies

open access: yes, 2004
Young massive stars produce Far-UV photons which dissociate the molecular gas on the surfaces of their parent molecular clouds. Of the many dissociation products which result from this ``back-reaction'', atomic hydrogen \HI is one of the easiest to ...

Microsecond time-resolved absorption spectroscopy used to study CO compounds of cytochrome bd from Escherichia coli. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Cytochrome bd is a tri-heme (b558, b595, d) respiratory oxygen reductase that is found in many bacteria including pathogenic species. It couples the electron transfer from quinol to O2 with generation of an electrochemical proton gradient.

Advancements in Mass Spectrometry‐Based Glycomics in Food and Nutritional Science

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This review highlights advancements in mass spectrometry (MS)‐based glycomics in food and nutritional science. Carbohydrates, which are vital for human health, exhibit complex structures, making their analysis challenging. MS has become an indispensable tool for elucidating the structures of carbohydrates, including glycans, through soft ...

CN and HCN in Dense Interstellar Clouds

open access: yes, 2005
We present a theoretical investigation of CN and HCN molecule formation in dense interstellar clouds. We study the gas-phase CN and HCN production efficiencies from the outer photon-dominated regions (PDRs) into the opaque cosmic-ray dominated cores.

H_2 Absorption and Fluorescence for Gamma Ray Bursts in Molecular Clouds [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
If a gamma ray burst with strong UV emission occurs in a molecular cloud, there will be observable consequences resulting from excitation of the surrounding H2. The UV pulse from the GRB will pump H2 into vibrationally-excited levels which produce strong

The SOMA Atomic Outflow Survey. I. An Atomic O I and Highly Ionized O III Outflow from Massive Protostar G11.94-00.62

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Massive stars regulate galaxy evolution and star formation through their physical and chemical feedback, but their formation remains poorly understood. Accretion-powered outflows provide important diagnostics of massive star formation.

Exploring Stellar Cluster and Feedback-driven Star Formation in the Galactic Mid-infrared Bubble [HKS2019] E70

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
We present a comprehensive analysis of the Galactic mid-infrared bubble [HKS2019] E70 (E70) by adopting a multiwavelength approach to understand the physical environment and star formation scenario around it.

Ion Activation Methods for Top‐Down Proteomics

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Mass spectrometry (MS) has emerged as a premier method used to characterize the sequences of proteins. Top‐down proteomics aims to capture the multiple sources of structural diversity reflected in proteins, such as those that arise from alternative RNA splicing events or the addition of post‐translational modifications. Tandem MS (i.e., MS/MS)
