The photoelectrochemical reductions of 4-chlorophenol and 2,4-dichlorophenol are studied in acetonitrile solution at platinum electrodes. The photoelectrochemical reduction follows a CE-type mechanism with the electrochemical step being the formation of dihydrogen.
