Influence of d‐Orbital Occupancy on Ligand Conformation and Crystal Packing in a Series of Mononuclear Transition Metal Complexes

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 10, October 2026.
Five new mononuclear complexes of the form [ML]X2 are reported herein. Structural changes and effects on crystal packing arrangements caused by octahedral distortion in the coordination sphere have been studied. A series of mononuclear metal complexes were synthesised incorporating either Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), or Zn(II) metal ions in ...

Lignin‐Derived Carbon Quantum Dots as Hole‐Trapping Promoters in LCDs/Bi‐MOF/ZIS With S‐Scheme Heterojunction for Efficient Photocatalytic Hydrogen Peroxide Production in Pure Water

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Photocatalytic hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) production from water and oxygen driven by solar energy represents a highly promising green and sustainable strategy. Herein, lignin‐derived carbon quantum dots (LCDs) were strategically introduced at the heterojunction between a Bi‐based metal organic framework (Bi‐MOF) and ZnIn2S4 (ZIS).

Deciphering Recent Developments in Photocatalysis of Multimetallic Metal–Organic Frameworks and Their Composite Heterojunctions

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 18, 28 September 2026.
This review explores the potential of multimetallic organic framework (MMOF) composites as photocatalysts. It demonstrates the impact of the composite architecture on the photocatalytic performance and existing challenges. The paper highlights heterojunction mechanisms and the role of each partner composites in degradation, CO2 reduction, H2 production,

Morphology and Photoelectrochemical Properties of Sputtered WO3:Mo Anodes

open access: yesZeitschrift für anorganische und allgemeine Chemie, Volume 652, Issue 14, 23 September 2026.
WO3:Mo thin films for photoelectrochemical water splitting were deposited by sputtering from a W:Mo target. Substrate temperature, pressure, oxygen partial pressure, deposition rate, and film thickness were systematically varied. The results show that the substrate temperature is the dominant parameter governing both the film morphology and the ...

Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting With TiO2 Thin Films: Effects of Thickness, Porosity, and Illumination Configuration

open access: yesChemElectroChem, Volume 13, Issue 18, 19 September 2026.
An increase in surface area is not always an advantage for photoanodes; mesoporous TiO2 photoelectrodes present lower photoelectrocatalytic performance in oxygen evolution reaction due to a higher density of surface states that promote recombination, especially under frontal illumination.
