Characterization of PNIPAAm photografted on PET and PS surfaces
Applied Surface Science, 2005Abstract Aqueous solution of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide), or PNIPAAm, possess lower critical solution temperature (LCST) around 32–33 °C. Below this temperature the PNIPAAm is hydrophilic and above presents hydrophobic characteristics. In this work, virgin or oxidized films of PET and PS were submitted to surface modification by grafting of PNIPAAm ...

Comparative examination of sensitizers in photografting on polymer films
Polymer Photochemistry, 1986Abstract Photografting (λ > 300 nm) of methacrylic acid on low-density polyethylene film (thickness 30 μm) was carried out at 60°C for 60 min in water medium, and the activity of sensitizers towards the grafting was examined. Various sensitizers, involving hydrogen atom abstraction (aromatic ketones and quinones), radical generation, and energy ...

Sensitized Photografting of Diazonium Salts by Visible Light.
Chemistry of Materials, 2012Visible irradiation of a gold surface dipped into a solution of diversely substituted aryldiazonium salts in the presence of a photosensitizer (Ru(bipy)32+ or eosinY) leads to a modification of the surface by attached aryl groups. A grafted nanometer thick polyphenylene film is obtained.

Functionalizing of polyurethane surfaces by photografting with hydrophilic monomers
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2000Poly(ester urethane) (PU) with functional groups (amide, hydroxyl, carboxyl) on surfaces were prepared by grafting monomers such as acrylamide (AAm), hydroxyethyl acrylate (HEA), and methacrylic acid (MAA) onto the PU membranes. Grafting copolymerization was carried out by the combined use of photooxidization and UV irradiation grafting.

SURFACE PHOTOGRAFTING POLYMERIZATION OF STYRENE ON LDPE FILM
Journal of Macromolecular Science, Part A, 2002ABSTRACT Styrene (St) was photografted onto LDPE substrates with different methods including a one-step method, pre-irradiation method, and pre-grafting method. Percent conversion (CP) and grafting efficiency (GE) of LDPE/St polymerization systems were measured by the gravimetric method.

Preparation of imprinted membranes by photograft polymerisation
2006Molecular imprinting has entered in different fields with particular attention in chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology and medicine. This technology, firstly proposed by Wulff in 1972 [1], is a method to introduce molecular recognition sites for a given interesting molecule into a polymeric material during its preparation.

Autohesive properties of polyolefins photografted with hydrophilic monomers
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2003AbstractIn an attempt to provide polyolefins such as low‐ and high‐density polyethylene and polypropylene with autohesive properties, hydrophilic monomers such as methacrylic acid (MAA), acrylic acid (AA), and 2‐(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate (DMAEMA) were photografted onto their surfaces.

Surface modification of polyolefins by photografting of acrylic monomers
Macromolecular Symposia, 1998AbstractHigh‐speed surface modification of polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) films has been achieved by liquid phase photograft polymerisation of acrylic acid (AA) and hydroxypropyl acrylate (HPA). Benzophenone was used as photoinitiator to generate polymer radicals at the surface of the polyolefin film.
