Photolysis of mixtures of certain alkyl halides and aromatic amines produces dehalogenation of the halide. These reactions involve a photoinduced charge transfer from the amine to the halide. Photolysis of tritolylamine and carbon tetrachloride produces tritolylaminium chloride. Photolysis of 1,1,1-trichloro-2,2-bis( p

Solar light is able to photoinduce the phototransformation of a lot of pesticides. In this chapter, we describe some of the most important photochemical processes leading to the chemical transformation of pesticides, in particular photodehalogenation, photoisomerization, photo-Fries and photo-Claisen.

The Photolysis of Dimethylhydrazine
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1942The ultraviolet absorption spectrum of dimethylhydrazine has been shown to exhibit a continuum extending from 2800A to beyond 2000A. Despite the absence of structure the continuum is probably experimental and indicates predissociation. The photolysis using various light sources, at several pressures and wave-lengths, has been studied.
