Combining Photogrammetry and Photometric Stereo to Achieve Precise and Complete 3D Reconstruction

open access: yesSensors, 2022
Image-based 3D reconstruction has been employed in industrial metrology for micro-measurements and quality control purposes. However, generating a highly-detailed and reliable 3D reconstruction of non-collaborative surfaces is still an open issue.

3D DIGITIZATION OF HERITAGE: PHOTOMETRIC STEREO CAN HELP [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, 2022
There are mainly two families of photographic 3D reconstruction. Photogrammetry techniques work according to the principle of triangulation, from the matching of different views, while photometric techniques link the appearance of a 3D point to the ...

Photometric Segmentation: Simultaneous Photometric Stereo and Masking [PDF]

open access: yes2019 International Conference on 3D Vision (3DV), 2019
This work is concerned with both the 3D-reconstruction of an object using photometric stereo, and its 2D-segmentation from the background. In contrast with previous works on photometric stereo which assume that a mask of the area of interest has been computed beforehand, we formulate 3D-reconstruction and 2D-segmentation as a joint problem.

RMAFF-PSN: A Residual Multi-Scale Attention Feature Fusion Photometric Stereo Network

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
Predicting accurate normal maps of objects from two-dimensional images in regions of complex structure and spatial material variations is challenging using photometric stereo methods due to the influence of surface reflection properties caused by ...

Depth Super-Resolution Meets Uncalibrated Photometric Stereo [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A novel depth super-resolution approach for RGB-D sensors is presented. It disambiguates depth super-resolution through high-resolution photometric clues and, symmetrically, it disambiguates uncalibrated photometric stereo through low-resolution depth ...

FCN-Based 3D Reconstruction with Multi-Source Photometric Stereo

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
As a classical method widely used in 3D reconstruction tasks, the multi-source Photometric Stereo can obtain more accurate 3D reconstruction results compared with the basic Photometric Stereo, but its complex calibration and solution process reduces the ...

Dynamic Photometric Stereo [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
A new dynamic photometric stereo technique is presented, which facilitates the analysis of rapidly moving surfaces containing mixed two- and three-dimensional concomitant features. A new approach termed narrow infra-red photometric stereo (NIRPS) is described as an evolution of the existing photometric stereo (PS) technique.

Variational Uncalibrated Photometric Stereo under General Lighting [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Photometric stereo (PS) techniques nowadays remain constrained to an ideal laboratory setup where modeling and calibration of lighting is amenable. To eliminate such restrictions, we propose an efficient principled variational approach to uncalibrated PS

Photometric stereo for outdoor webcams [PDF]

open access: yes2012 IEEE Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 2012
We present a photometric stereo technique that operates on time-lapse sequences captured by static outdoor webcams over the course of several months. Outdoor webcams produce a large set of uncontrolled images subject to varying lighting and weather conditions. We first automatically select a suitable subset of the captured frames for further processing,

Light invariant photometric stereo

open access: yesOptics Express, 2023
An imaging setup that enables unsynchronized photometric stereo (PS) for Lambertian objects based on modulated light sources is presented. Knowing the specific frequency of the modulated light source allows to filter out any other light in the scene. This creates an image that depends only on the particular light source while ignoring the ambient light.
