Interplay Between the Conductivity of Polymer‐Brush Functionalized Core‐Shell Particles and Their Enzyme Loading Efficiency and Activity

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Two approaches to introduce conductivity and high enzyme loading efficiency into polymer brush functionalized particles are pursued. First, conductive nanoparticles and laccase are incorporated into PDMAEMA brushes on silica particles. Second, conductive silver particles grafted with PDMAEMA brushes are loaded with laccase.

TSI modeling: A comparison of ground-based Ca II K-line data with space-based UV images from the SDO/AIA instrument

open access: yesJournal of Space Weather and Space Climate
The Total Solar Irradiance (TSI) is an important input for the Earth’s climate. To describe the competing contributions of sunspots and faculae on irradiance variability, the San Fernando Observatory (SFO) irradiance model has two components: One ...

An Atlas of Spectrophotometric Landolt Standard Stars

open access: yes, 2005
We present CCD observations of 102 Landolt standard stars obtained with the R-C spectrograph on the CTIO 1.5 m telescope. Using stellar atmosphere models we have extended the flux points to our six spectrophotometric secondary standards, in both the blue

The Crystal Structure of Human Transport and Golgi Organization 2 Homolog (TANGO2) Protein Reveals an αββα‐Fold Arrangement

open access: yesProteins: Structure, Function, and Bioinformatics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Transport and Golgi Organization 2 Homolog (TANGO2) protein deficiency disorder (TDD) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by multi‐systemic abnormalities and significant phenotypic variability including neurodevelopmental delay, seizures, intermittent ataxia, hypothyroidism, rhabdomyolysis, life‐threatening metabolic ...

Development of Simple and Affordable Integrating Device for Accurate LED Strip Light Measurement

open access: yesSensors
LED strips are increasingly used as lighting sources in public and private spaces. However, traditional photometric methods, such as integrating spheres, are unsuitable for measuring their light parameters, often resulting in significant errors and ...

Long-term, multiwavelength light curves of ultra-cool dwarfs: II. The evolving light curves of the T2. 5 SIMP 0136 & the uncorrelated light curves of the M9 TVLM 513 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We present multiwavelength, multi-telescope, ground-based follow-up photometry of the white dwarf WD 1145+017, that has recently been suggested to be orbited by up to six or more, short-period, low- mass, disintegrating planetesimals.

First Results From the Large Binocular Telescope: Deep Photometry of New dSphs

open access: yes, 2007
This contribution describes photometry for two Galactic dSphs obtained with the Large Binocular Telescope to a magnitude of ~25.5. Using the Large Binocular Camera, a purpose-built wide-field imager for the LBT, we have examined the structure and star ...

Aridity and grazing are associated with reduced trait complementarity and higher invasion intensity of Solanum rostratum in native plant communities

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, EarlyView.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract The biotic resistance hypothesis (BRH) of Elton posits that diverse communities are more resistant to biological invasions. While the effects of climatic stresses and human disturbances on community invasibility have been extensively studied individually, their combined
