TSI modeling: A comparison of ground-based Ca II K-line data with space-based UV images from the SDO/AIA instrument

open access: yesJournal of Space Weather and Space Climate
The Total Solar Irradiance (TSI) is an important input for the Earth’s climate. To describe the competing contributions of sunspots and faculae on irradiance variability, the San Fernando Observatory (SFO) irradiance model has two components: One ...

Study of the Time-Series of Microvariability in Kepler Blazar W2R 1926+42

open access: yesGalaxies, 2017
One of the remarkable features of blazars is violent variability over a wide wavelength range. The variation mechanism causing the observed complex behavior is still under debate.

Sensitivity of Wintertime Arctic Black Carbon to Removal Processes and Regional Alaskan Sources

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 130, Issue 7, 16 April 2025.
Abstract Air pollutants are primarily transported from midlatitude emission regions in winter and early spring, leading to elevated concentrations of aerosols, including black carbon (BC), in the Arctic, a phenomenon known as Arctic haze. The Weather Research and Forecasting model coupled with chemistry is used to investigate potential causes of ...

A Spatial Uniformity Check of Gaia DR3 Photometry and BP/RP Spectra [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Gaia DR3 photometry and BP/RP spectra have been widely used as reference in photometric calibrations. In this work, we check the spatial uniformity of Gaia DR3 photometry and BP/RP spectra by comparing the BP, RP and G bands photometry with the synthetic ones from the BP/RP spectra.

Essential Role of the Anterior Piriform Cortex in Mediating Social Novelty Output via a Top–Down Circuit

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 13, April 3, 2025.
The anterior piriform cortex (APC) exhibits distinct neural firings and calcium transients in response to familiar and novel mice, with a more robust response to the novel one. Selectively inhibiting APC pyramidal neurons disrupt social novelty recognition without impairing basic odor discrimination.

Stellar population in star formation regions of galaxies

open access: yesOpen Astronomy, 2018
We developed techniques for searching young unresolved star groupings (clusters, associations, and their complexes) and of estimating their physical parameters.
